Hello everyone, I was wondering if anybody here has any experience with training dogs. I just got a new puppy about two weeks ago and he is now 3 months old. He hasnt received all of his shots yet so we arent supposed to take him for a walk. Therefore he is being potty trained using pads. He seems to understand the pad is for number 1 but doesnt understand number 2 and just goes anywhere. Does anyone have any experience and or ideas on how to train him better.

Sweet fucking jesus...PADS??? Raise your dog like a real person...you KENNEL it when you're gone with enough room for it to simply turn around....you then take it out as soon as you're home, it'll do its biz outside...you PRAISE it....do that for a month....then have trials...when he/she fucks up inside you BEAT it and KENNEL it...after about 1-2 months you'll have a completely house trained dog....

Well have your tried one of the thousand or so other websites on pet training. I think even think your Korean puppy is very much like any other dog in the rest of the world. But maybe your puppy has to learn the proper Korean way.

OK then every time it misses the pad, hit it and yell at the puppy. Threaten to also eat it, too.

Really google would have been better. Reach more people who have done this before, then a couple thousand ESL teachers that likely do not own a dog.

Now if this question had been some how related to Korea or English teaching then yea.

We bought a dog too back in early feb. a week after bringing her home she broke her leg! We late found out it was because of malnutrition from the breeder so her bones were weak.

Anyways.. Try potty training a puppy with a Cast on =)...

In anycase training our dog ( who's in pain and has a cast ) to do # 1 and 2 on the pee pads was easy. It took less than a week. Every time she did her business in the right spot I would say " YES" and praise her and give her a yummy treat. If she happen to pee somewhere else in the house and I caught her doing It I would say a Stern "NO" and pick her up and put her on the pads to let her finish. There were a few messes here and there but after a few days she was catching on. Also you might want restrict her to a certain area of the apt. Buy a crate just big enough for her to stand and turn around ( typically dogs dont pee where they sleep. If it sleeps in one corner and pees in the other corner of the crate it means its too big). Crate training your dog is probably the best thing you should do and over time you use the crate less and less. slowly introduce her to the rest of the apt. The best things we bought was our puppy's Play pen and crate. We put her crate in the play pen and some pee pads. We put her there when we cant look after her.

You might want to train your dog to pee on command. My puppy does this now. It's all about repetition.

Buying a Clicker is also a good idea. My puppy picks up tricks/behaviors really quick because of the clicker. She responds to it really well. You could use a clicker for her potty training.

IN the end you should do ALOt of positive reinforcement. DONT SCREAM at or HIT your dog....

In my ecperience puppies tend to poop about 30 minutes after eating. Keep his puppy chowut away until dinner time. Then, feed him and wait till he strts sniffing aroung for a place to use the bathroom. Take him to his pad and wait. Then praise and give atreat. Repeat each day until he goes to the pad on his own.
