|

Hello Everyone,
It's Jason here, community events manager for the Magpie Brewing Company. I'm posting this on behalf of a friend who's organizing one of the best events to hit Seoul in a long time.
The Spring Beer Festival!!!
http://www.facebook.com/events/304920839573686/
http://10mag.com/events/spring-beer-festival-2012/
In Haebongcheon and Kyeongnidan (the neigborhoods west of Itaewon, outside of Noksapyeong station), April 21st, participating bars, pubs, and stores will have a homebrewer stationed and waiting to serve you tasty home-made beer...for how much? Free. No, seriously, free.
You will receive a 250ml sampling cup. Then, just roam from place to place getting a new sample of beer every time. And how much was again? Frakkin' FREE!
No gimmicks, just homebrewers showing their skills and spreading the cheer. If you've been complaining about beer in Korea, here's your chance to support a burgeoning community!
Update: Cups for the festival can be picked up at the Magpie Beer Store. Check the map--

P.s.
On the same day, we will be having FERMENTATION EDUCATION (Fermentation Celebration 3).
More to come on this event later, and yes, you can participate in both quite easily!

By free, you mean, individual brewers will be selling their own beers right? |

I'm not clear on this either. People giving away free craft beer? Sounds too good to be true. Can someone explain the format here. Will free beer be served in small paper cups and one cup per customer? Or, will it be free pints of beer? Or what? |

Nope, not at all. Everyone will get a 250ml cup and will get samples of homebrew at every participating pub. That's it. |

It is indeed just sampling so no pints, but there's 10 locations, 12 kegs that we all made together as experimental batches (Dark IPA, IPA, and Pale Ale), and homebrewers will be bringing in even more of their own stuff from home. Mind you, homebrewers in Korea like it strong, so those "samples" will be packing quite a punch. |

OK, I get it. So 250ml X 10 = 2.5L of wicked strength craft beer. Sounds good to me. Will these locations be smoking or non-smoking? |

some will be smoking, some non-smoking. Looking at the map it's probably 50/50. |

I have TESOL classes on Saturdays, so can't make it, but a friend got me some of that fermented peanut butter the last time he went to the fermentation festivities, and I would love to buy a jar of the stuff. If anyone knows where I could get it (or could put me in contact with the producers of the delicious stuff) I would be grateful. Yum! |

Thanks! Unfortunately that nut-butter was a one time thing I believe. It was indeed delicious. |

We actually brewed 3 batches of beer together so there will definitely be 4 kegs of IPA and four kegs of Dark IPA.
Update: cups for the festival will be given out the the Magpie Beer Store. Check the map, it's #7.

Hey dude, are all lights green on this? I got a whack of people all with prodigious thirsts who are raring to get stuck in to copious amounts of beer. |

I for one would like to see this become an annual, or even semi-annual event. |

Sorry to be a dick, but here is how the event will go:
If you get your cup at all, the beer will run out long before you get a taste. |
