1. Japan
2. South Korea
3. Taiwan
4. China
Last. North Korea

Sound right so far?

Ok not all of Asia but how do these other countries rank?
Cambodia, Malaysia, Philippines, Indonesia, Thailand, Laos, Vietnam

How did you forget about Singapore? In terms of GDP per capita, Singapore is probably doing better than any other country in Asia except for maybe Brunei (which is only due to oil).

Why do you put Japan first (post-Fukushima) and China 4th? Is this just a value question or is it a pure economics question or somewhere in between?

Where are your lists?
I didn't mention Singapore because I don't care about them right now. Start your own list and include them and don't forget about the others like you did last time!

It depends on what you mean "best economy". I believe the best economies in terms of growth right now are Vietnam and Thailand, in that order. The worst would probably be Japan.

Thailand? Really?? I doubt that due to the political instability and flooding in the Bangkok area last year.

Grew .1% last year and expected to grow 5.56% this year

Last time? What are you talking about? I do not believe that I am the one making lists ranking countries' economies.

After you listed a number of southeast Asian countries, I merely pointed out that you had left out a prominent country (Singapore) from that region which would normally be on the top of such lists along with Brunei when it is the GDP per capita being ranked. Of course, I also could have mentioned East Timor, but that would have been pointless given it's poor economy.

However, the political instability does seem to be taken care of for the time being. I heard that Thaksin's sister made some kind of deal with the military with it essentially being that she would not do anything too radical in exchange for the military not to carry out another coup. Meanwhile, the Thais people have been become much more united as a result of the flooding catastrophe.

Indonesia is doing very well at this time. They have a large enough population to develop a strong internal economy, lots of resources, political situation is good and seems to have a stable future. China well there are some big bumps in the road and no one really knows how stable the government is. The chinese are a tough group to govern and the communist are not really popular among the young middle class.

Actually the flooding resulted in a fair bit of division. A big problem was that in order to save parts of Bangkok, upcountry areas were allowed to flood. There were also big conflicts between the governor of Bangkok and the government on who was in charge. And there was fighting in Bangkok with people organizing and tearing down flood walls and threatening to open dams wider. All in all, the fractured chaotic response one has come to expect from Thailand.

Shouldn't Vietnam be somewhere in there? What's your guess?
