"There has been a change in the necessary documents required by the Education Board. This does not affect your work visa!
You need to submit another notarized copy of your university degree with ORIGINAL APOSTILLE + 1 ORIGINAL POLICE CHECK with ORIGINAL APOSTILLE (Canadians need to get these ORIGINAL documents stamped at the Korean Consulate as they aren't eligible for an APOSTILLE)
These MUST be ORIGINAL! NO PHOTOCOPIES WILL BE ACCEPTED!
You need to submit another of each to the Education Board within a month after you start teaching.
So please order your documents again. If they aren't ready by the time you fly to Korea, arrange to have them mailed to you in Korea.
This won't affect you coming to Korea and start teaching.
This is a new law so how this will affect teachers will not be know for about 2 months or longer.
If you have any question, please let us know."
From my recruiter. WTF?!?! I need two copies of everything now? I really can't deal with the hassle of another FBI check. Is it really necessary? |

Can anyone confirm? If this is true I'm going to be pretty furious, this stuff isn't cheap. |

Everyone is telling me I need two sets now. One for immigration and one for the Ministry of Education. No one told me this three months ago. Can I just wait to get a new CBC while in Korea? Will they kick me out if I don't supply a CBC to the ministry of Education within a month? This is getting unnecessarily complicated. |

I wouldn't be shocked, today at work we hand to turn in our ARC cards with some form for Interpol or something. Evidently it allows employers etc access to your Criminal background history while you're here in Korea. Seems like they are getting more strict. |

Interpol? Or something else? Do you know which? Allowing KOREAN employers to access your criminal background history in the US, or vice versa? If it's the former, WTF is the point of this FBI charade? I assume it's the vice versa, though. You didn't, by chance, happen to make a copy of this form, did you? I'm mad as hell and I'm not going to take it anymore. Well, I probably will if I have to. |

I doubt they actually need the originals, and you're unlikely to run into any trouble if you just head to Korea without them and tell your employers it's going to take awhile to receive said documents. |

I got mixed answers. One person mentioned Interpol and the other mentioned that our Criminal Background history would now become accessible over here. I'm not worried about my criminal history and my contract is up in two months so I didn't ask too many questions. Sorry. |

Last week the hagwon boss told everyone we needed to bring in our college diplomas. We all figured it was so he could hang them on the wall for the parents to see them. Now I wonder... |

This is a recent change by the Ministry of Education (MOE). Local MOEs are a bit confused on the documents at this time so some are accepting photocopies but I would prepare originals because that is the official requirement. |

"The Ministry of Education where Bundang schools report to are not requiring a second FBI check."
I was just told this. I guess it depends where you are going. |

It all depends on which immigration office you use. Some will allow the photocopy while others demand the original.
The actual penalty? Who knows? There are sure to be a lot of people that can't get this done quickly. |

The penalty falls on the shoulders of the hagwon director in the form of a financial fine and other sanctions. Can't remember the specifics. |
