When you say that you can pay by Visa, does an english visa debit card count? I want to buy a ton of stuff for my flat and cant be bothered to lug it all home from Yongsan on the train and I'd still need to use my debit card so I'd have to try to find someone to ask if they accept it first etc

Gmarket just seems like a lot less trouble

Try paying by 'Card issued outside of Korea' upon checkout. I wouldn't know exactly what type of online authentication protocol your bank has set up with Visa Inc., it may or may not be necessary.

Though it wasn't with Gmarket, my old Barclays UK Visa debit card used to 'summon' its own authentication protocol for online purchases that is somewhat similar - but no way identical - to Korean visa cards'. Your card may work in a similar way.
