I've read a lot of different things and I'm hoping to get a little bit more clarification.

I have worked at my current public school for one year and 6 months. I gave my school a 30 day notice because I want to move to the same town as my boyfriend, who I came to Korea with originally. He is a gyopo so we were having problems finding couple jobs or jobs in the same town, and now finally something has worked out.

I love my school and I have had a really, really good relationship with them thus far, but hearing that I want to leave early has quickly made them change.

If I don't get a release letter from them (which I imagine I won't), will I be able to do a visa transfer and avoid a visa run?

I've read that I can as long as it's before 30 days of having my PS cancel my visa, but I'm unsure.

Any help would be appreciated, Thanks!!

As a general policy (actually stated in many PS contracts) a public school will usually not issue a LOR.

There HAVE been exceptions but they are not that common.

They are under NO obligation (legal or otherwise) to issue one.

I'm not expecting it, although a few friends in the area have gotten them.

My main focus was on visa transfer. Will I be able to transfer my visa if I know what date my visa will be cancelled and I have the new school go to immigration with me to help transfer it.

I've read different things from different sites. What I'm getting the main jist is that without the release letter I'll have to apply for the visa & can do so without new documents, I'll just have to go to Japan.
