I've read in old posts that Tanhyeon (in Ilsan) is not the most beautiful place in the world.
What is Tanhyeon like nowadays? |

I lived there for a year October 2009 - Oct 10. It's a great little place in my humble opinion.
There are loads of decent neighbourhood restaurants, it's very quiet and there is a nice park next to the library. The transport links to Seoul are great; 1200 bus stop is close by & ilsan train station is a 15 min walk away. It has a great market every 5 days down the road and the supermarkets are okay. A 5 min taxi ride takes you into Lafesta or you can jump on a bus. There is an Emart and a bunch of fasion outlets about 15/20 min walk away.
I'd move back there quite happily. |

I worked in Tanhyeon for a year and my mother inlaw lives there now. It's not bad. Good transport, the market, big super market, etc...All the modern conveniences, but it's a bit older than other parts of Ilsan. Ideally, you'd like to be placed somewhere along the 3 line between Daehwa and Baeksok if you can swing it. But Tanhyeon is pretty good. There are definitely A LOT of places that are worse. |

Where are the fashion outlets you speak of? I've been to the massive Paju "outlet" and found that 100,000 and up for an item of clothing is above my budget -- whether it's "discounted" or not! |

The outlets are in Deokidong (I think). On the way to Tanhyeon Station. If you are at the McDonalds in Tanhyeon, head through the tunnel next to the new Zenith Buildings and go straight at the next light, can't miss them.
Still a bit pricey by western standards, but cheaper than those ripoff outlets in Paju. Those are a joke. |
