I've heard good things about Pusan - but nothing in detail. I'm trying to put together a trip for some out-of-town friends...
Wondering about several things:
1) What are some good places to stay? (are the motels as abundant as in Seoul?)
2) Is 5 days too long to be a tourist in Pusan?
3) What are the best ways to get around? Should I rent a car?
4) What are the best things to do, see and experience there???
Any and all advice is appreciated...thanks!!!  |

That is a pretty good report. Gotta disagree with the buses. I have found them to be pretty convenient and much easier to get around compared to the subway.
For the OP. I would say that 5 days is a little on the long side. Maybe throw in a day or two at Kyungju |

Definetely definetely definetely stay near Haendae Beach.. very beautiful and nice. I can�t recall the name of the place.. but I found a great hotel up on the top floor of the building that was right across the street from McDonalds. It cost something like 50,000 won a night (maybe 60?) and I could see the entire bay and look down on the beach and everything else. Just amazing.. and great hotel room as well!! There is only one McDonalds in Haeundae Beach, so it would be the street right across from it going the opposite way from the beach. Go up to the 12th or 13th floor.. and everything below the hotel will be various businesses. (If you try to visit the Transgender Club - they actually have one in that same building).. they will kick you out if you are a foreigner. Quite a shock as its written in English in the elevator!! But funny nontheless.
Things to do.. Pomosa Temple (one afternoon is enough), Somyon (shopping and just exploring), Nampodong and the Fish Market (just great environment), Pusan Tower (right next to Nampodong and you overlook quite a bit of the city from here), Russia Town (where all the Russians hangout.. just interesting to hangout or walk through at least, etc.
I think you�d get bored with 5 entire days in Busan.. but those would be the highlights.. |

| I just spent the weekend there. The motel I was at was along the beach in ����...��? What was that area called? Anyway, down at the end of the beach there was a motel called �������� and for 40000 we got a double room with a view of the beach, the bridge, and the surrounding area. The room was on the 7th floor. |

Tiger, most of what you say is valid but this is not.
Haeundae is a shocking beach. When i went there I couoldn't stop laughing at how bad it was. The jewel of Korea my ass.
Korea does have some nice beaches(especially on Jeju) but this one is crap. |
