I'd be transferring from a hagwon in Chuncheon, so it already seems like an improvement, except for the location. Is it as isolated as it seems? I'm aware that it's close to a subway line and has a bus station, but I'm interested in hearing what it was actually like living there. . . . any feedback would be appreciated.

Well, you need to ask where the school is located because Gapyeong county is huge. As for Gapyeong city, it is rather small but the residents are quite friendly.

In any case, if you're into outdoor sports and jazz (there's a huge jazz festival held there every year), you'll like Gapyeong.

Something more to consider: Gapyeong is where people who want to get away from the stress of living in Seoul go to on weekends.

Thank you for your comments, I agree. I had the opportunity to visit Gapyeong city where the school is located today, and while it's pretty tiny, it is quiet and nice, sort of reminds me of very small Korean mountain resort town. And I am into both outdoor sports & jazz, so I'm seriously considering giving it a go.

I like the hiking trails in the less developed areas. It is quite peaceful.
