Enter the average number of standard servings of alcohol consumed weekly.
→Servings of Alcohol: If you tend to drink a serving of alcohol daily (e.g., a glass of wine with dinner), please note this. For example, an appropriate answer would be, 1 glass of wine each night =7~10 servings a week.
Enter the average number of cigarettes consumed daily.
Indicate your gender in the box provided with an M or F. Put your height and weight in cm and kg. For reference, 2.20 lbs = 1 kilogram and 2.54 cm = 1 inch.

I wonder if they're going to start discriminating against over weight/obese people?
If they are that's surely going to affect the US intake this fall! |

I think Americans will be desensitized enough to lie through their capped teeth. They'll be coming after the Presidential election + Senate + Congress + Guvnor elections afterall. |

This survey is sooo rude. I am glad that I never worked for EPIK too. |

I hope everyone lies. Bunch of a***oles. What bothers me more is they think it is acceptable to ask such questions. Like the butcher shop. |

Either this bit from the posting
is on point or the OP needs to provide a link. |

I don't really see the problem with it... The weight and height thing really shouldn't matter, but this is Korea we're talking about... They ask for your pictures beforehand anyway, this just gives them a more accurate assessment.
As for the drinking, you can easily lie as long as you're not a straight up alcoholic and can hide it. And for the smoking, it is an understandable concern since I can imagine some parents will look unfavorably on teachers who smoke which could be bad for their business. |

Bad for their business? This is EPIK we are discussing which is a PUBLIC school organization...not quite sure how business plays into this. |

at my Moe, there was an article 2 years ago. In the article, the Moe person is quoted as saying that some people weren't renewed because they were"lazy, sloppy and fat" among other things. |

I don't find it offensive at all. It's a self health check, most people know there weight, height, average drinking amount and average smoking amount. If you can't answer these questions within a degree of accuracy, you don't deserve a job, you are either being untruthful or you have limited mental capacity. These questions are a good indicator of your overall health before even visiting a doctor.
Remember you are going to be on government health insurance. I wouldn't want to insure someone who is 140cm and 140kg. Easier just to ask than to wait until they come here and say I'm sorry you are too unhealthy.
They should perhaps add waist line to make BMI more accurate, but I suppose people would just complain about that too. |

All I know that if these questions were asked of teachers or assistant teachers from China teaching in public schools in the states people would be right up in arms about rude ethno-centric policies.
At my office about half the women would quit if these questions were asked in the states. And the policies are racist if they do not ask the same questions of their Korean colleagues. |

No they aren't. And here's why.
This is an EPIK questionnaire. Said Korean colleagues do NOT WORK FOR EPIK...they work for the MOE. Your salary is paid for out of the EPIK budget whereas theirs is not. |

There used to be "black" and "white" drinking fountains (or schools).
The black fountain was usually dirtier, but you're saying we can't compare the two? They have different names. |

It shouldn't matter.
BTW My salary is not paid by EPIK. I have never worked for EPIK/SMOE/GEPIK and never will. I heard that they put you guys up in some college compound for orientation too. No Thanks! |
