Considering giving Korea another go and am putting together a comprehensive monthly budget.
So I'm wondering how much a bottled litre of water goes for these days as well as jugs of water if you have a water dispenser in your flat.
I think a L went for 1000 won a couple years ago, but could be wrong.
Cheers. |

| If you can, get a tap installed in your sink. They put filters under the sink. It cost about 30,000 won for installation. Free water for ever! (Although you do need to change the filters every year). |

| Samdasu is around 900 won for two litres. If you go for cheaper brand's such as EMart Trader's water you can actually get a 6 pack of 2 litre bottles for around 2500 won. That is around 200 won a litre, but it doesn't taste very good. |

| I need something like that. Or Id like to know where I can buy one brita water filter instead of three at costco. I try not to calculate how much I spend on water. Should just pony up the $45 it costs for the three pack or get this $30 filter deal. Id like to know more about other options. |

Fill up empty bottles at work. I've probably saved $2500 doing so. Be discreet if choosing this option.
These days I use tap water for my kettle. A couple adjummas came around and tested the water and gave me the thumbs up to drink it. Says Gangnam has the best drinking water in the world.
I also occasionally fill up from a spring near my house. Fresh ground water. The best.
Spending tons on water is rather foolish. Get a brita. Get a filter. Have a dude deliver 5 gallon tubs to your house. Have 2L bottles delivered to your house. But for heavens sake, don't drop a 1000 won for a 2L bottle. That's just wasteful. |

My preference is for a water cooler with water deliveries. Not sure about the cost of the cooler, but I think it's free with a certain number of deliveries a month, or you pay a small deposit to rent it.
The company that does my boyfriend's water deliveries charges I think 6000 won per bottle, and we go through maybe a bottle a week for the two of us. It's great because not only do you get the instant freezing cold clean tasty water, but you can also get instantly near-boiling as well, so you can make tea or hot chocolate (or instant coffee) really fast. |

| Spending money on bottled water in any form is wasteful. What's wrong with just drinking water from the tap? |

I'll be totally honest, I don't know... I just know that I got here and everyone from EPIK coordinators and lecturers at orientation to former and current NETs to my co-teachers to posters on this board all said "you should drink bottled water, don't drink the tap water." The tap water could give you superpowers and I'd never know, because everyone scared me off it and bottled water at instantly cold/hot temperature has been both convenient and cheap enough that I have sheep-ily followed along without complaint. |

| 1,400 for 5 liters at homeplus. The family drinks about 40 liters a month for 11,200 won per month. |

While water from the tap is filtered, it isn't considered potable... the government has been trying to say it's okay to drink... no one does |

| I drink it every day; it hasn't ever bothered me. Tastes pretty much like most tap water in the US. I wouldn't be scared of the tap water just because a lot of Koreans won't drink it. These are the same people that think you will die if you leave a fan running in your room at night. If you're really worried there is something harmful in it, just boil it and keep a pitcher in the fridge. |

Agreed. Never a problem.
On rare occasions I'll notice a slight shift in the drinking water. It's rare though (maybe 1x or 2x's a few months ago?) and then I just boil it up and throw it in the fridge.
Unless you're on a weird local water line or something you're just throwing your money out IMHO. |
