Hi all,
I've been reading this board for over 2 months and I have gained tons of useful information. Now, it's my turn to share:
-I sent in my request on March 21, 2012.
-Contacted my congressman March 28, 2012 (and she contacted the FBI that same day).
-I received my FBI CBC today, April 6, 2012!
Good luck to everyone. |

March 20th FBI got mine
March 24th Contact my congresswoman
Correspondence back and forth.
April 4th email back saying: "I followed up with FBI today and they told me your background check is already in queue and you should receive it in 3-4 weeks. I asked if they could expedite your case and they said they would look into it and give me a call back. I will keep you posted on their answer about expediting."
Apparently my congresswoman isn't that influential with the FBI. Great... |

My congresswoman told me something similar... that the FBI told her it would "look into it," but then she followed up with me a few days later to let me know that the FBI had completed the check and I should receive it within 2 weeks or so. I received it 3 days later.
Hang in there... hopefully it will come sooner.
By the way, I forgot to mention... I emphasized a sense of urgency by telling my congresswoman that I had already moved out of my condo and I was staying with my mom until I could move overseas, that it could potentially take 6 months (if my fingerprints were rejected the first time around and I had to wait another 12 weeks), that we were already negotiating employment contracts, etc. I don't know if that made the difference. |

I mnetioned that I was a college student and in order to secure a job after graduation that I needed the background check ASAP. Maybe you're story was better.
I fudged it. I'm applying for Feb 2013 but I didn't tell them any dates. I just want to apply early (for TaLK) to make sure I get in and/or make sure I have time for a backup if needed.
Hopefully I get it soon. That's for mentioning that they also were going to "look into it" but came way sooner than they said. |
