Today I was looking for a Thai restaurant that my co-worker suggested just out gate 4 of 덕포 station and was disappointed that it wasn't open. All their dishes are just 6K won! cheaper than other Thai places around...

So, I walked around and was pleased to stumble on a kind of Little Saigon and found two Vietnamese restaurants. The first one I walked into was totally filled with Vietnamese and they laughed at me for what I'm not sure. I guess there aren't too many white folks that go in there. When I asked for a menu, they didn't have one! Now that's my kind of place... you'll eat what we serve you!

The second place was where I ended up eating, called 투히엔.

Oh. my. God. Go! It was so damned good. I ordered the shabu shabu (well, that's what it was called on the menu) and was blown away how good it was. The broth was thick with lemon grass and it was served with two different kinds of noodles, the vermicelli and another bit thicker rice noodle. All with copious amounts of fresh cilantro, mint and basil. I was so happy Very Happy

This places just does shame to the korean style pho houses....

If you wanna go, just walk out gate 1 and at the first street make a right and walk down about 1 minute; the place is on your left. Walk another minute down and you'll see the other place that has no menu.

Ahh... food porn...

Just to add some more info about this place. Went there today. The pho was good and came with a range of herbs to add. Fried spring rolls were also good.

One thing to note is when you come in they will probably give you the Korean menu which only has the Vietnamese foods popular with Koreans - shabu shabu, wolnam ssam, ssalguksu, etc. They also have a Vietnamese menu up by the register that is much larger. I'm going to try some items off of it next time.

I went past the place you said didn't have a menu. The signs all say things about beer and coffee in Korean and Vietnamese. I didn't see any foods advertised on their signage. Not sure without looking inside, but I think it might be a Vietnamese beer bar and not necessarily a restaurant.

Damn, didn't take you long to go try it out.

Yeah, I saw the big menu after I'd eaten and also decided I'd like to go back and try the stuff in the menu. And it's all written in Vietnamese so I had to ask what each thing was! All the pictures look pretty good~

When I walked into the other place it was filled with people eating, so there is food, but just no menu...

I wanna try the Thai place too... I hope they didn't go out of business.

hey,

'd really appreciate location on the 2 Vietnamese places.

I did stumble on the Thai place. It was ....good. The tom young goong tasted like tom young goong. The pho (they also have pho) tasted like Hanoi-style pho.

drool

It's out of exit 4, across the street, to the left of the cheap chicken place. The sign above the store advertises itself as "Asia Mart"

Just follow the directions in this thread. If you're not sure, load daum maps and use the streetview function. It's just like google streetview and you can follow the directions to find the place before you head all the way out there to find it.

Thanks for the info. The directions were a bit confusing but I managed to find the 투히엔 restaurant. Go out of exit 1 of 덕포 station. Walk straight. Turn right before a BS Bank. It's near a 7/11. I lived in Vietnam for a few years and the food seemed very authentic to me and very reasonably priced. I met the owner. His name is Nam and he's from Hanoi. I also noticed a place with a sign that said Bia tuoi viet nam (fresh Vietnamese beer) on the same street.
