I was showing some new GEPIK teachers where to shop for deals and, naturally, we hit Costco and E-Mart at Yongsan Station. Bother were very crowded. The food court was much too crowded for us to even try to get in line. The lines were all the way back to the wall and the carts were parked all the way back to the first line of sale items. The newbies picked up many things at Costco, like: absorbent towels, vitamins, lotion, Tide laundry detergent, deli meat, cheese, Cinnamon Toast Crunch cereal, those great Costco cookies (Chocolate chips, Macaroons, and Snickerdoodles), donuts, bagged salad, frozen burgers, frozen chicken nuggets, and healthy bread. I did want to mention that Costco has Brookside Dark Chocolate Acai with blueberry that is simply delicious.
Then, we loaded into a crowded taxi to Singil station followed by a short trip on the #1 line to Yongsan Station. If you go down to B1 there is a large E-Mart, with a Burger King where we ate lunch. It's a nice touch of home. You can put your bags in a locker for 100 won, which is returned, and then you can shop for home goods and other stuff. B2 E-Mart has food, drinks, and some things you use in the kitchen like: pots, pans, and other cooking items. We found some good sales, but what everyone seemed to want was the E-Mart pizza that is the same size and price as the Costco pizza. All of us got an E-Mart pizza-lol. Ironic considering we also visited Costco. All-in-all it was a very good shopping experience.

Yesterday I woke up and had eggs and coffee for breakfast.I brushed my teeth before and after I ate, it's weird but that's just my habit in the mornings. Then I lounged around the apartment for a while I finished the book I'd been reading. It was the Time Masters by Wilson Tucker. It was pretty good; originally it was a short story that he'd written in the fifties but this was the version that was expanded and published as a stand-alone short novel in the early seventies. The book has aged a bit (it's interesting to note how casual people were about smoking and things) but it still stands up pretty well. I'd like to read the original version to compare the two. Then I went downtown for a bit and walked around. I wore a jeans, a yellow shirt and my brown leather shoes. They are Doc Martins, but not boots, just nice casual leather shoes. Very comfortable. It was good to get some exercise and to stretch my legs. There was a lot of traffic about, so I was happy not to be driving and dealing with finding a parking space. I came back home and had some tuna and a salad. Not tuna salad, but two separate things. I listened to a couple of podcasts, one from BBC News and another about a television show called "Community". Podcasts are recorded audio programs you can download on your computer. They are called "podcasts" because they can be played on your iPod, but you don't actually have to have an iPod. All-in-all it was a very good day.

At least someone remembers what they did on Saturday in Seoul, if you know what I mean. Laughing

I never really knew why they called podcasts "podcasts', but luckily, now I do, so I now I feel smarter.

Not only can you download podcasts from BBC, but they are also available for free download from other online sources. I find podcasts enlightening most of the time, but on occasion, they can be short on information, and end up being a waste of my time. In those instances, I don't feel I've gotten smarter.

Hey, who wouldn't remember shopping? I would talk about where to buy great name brand items but they are knock-offs so why bother.

It's of my opinion that Costco Korea is a rip-off, even abroad in the U.S. they are raising membership fees. I think good deals can actually be had in the U.S., but rarely in S. Korea. Anything you want at Costco on the cheap can be had elsewhere. The only thing about Costco Korea is that some things are offered there you rarely or may never see elsewhere, but would you really want to buy some of those(big) items when you're going home soon? As for taking a group of people there for the first time on a Saturday, no thank you!
