I'm one of those who got here before the 2010 rule changes and now plan to change jobs after 2 years at one school.
I would think that a Korean police check would suffice for immigration if there were no long periods of leaving the country.
Does anyone know if they would require the actual federal CRC upon changing jobs directly upon contract completion?

Federal CBC or change occupations.
If you were NOT from the US then you are probably already in compliance.
If you ARE from the US then you've had 2 years to get it. There is no excuse.

Lucky you. Stayed at the same school and immigration gave you a Mulligan on the CRC. Did you not pay attention last year, when the said "Your staying with the same school, no worries! Just next time you will need a NEW CRC"
No sympathy too, you had a year in which to get it done.
Still I agree with your premise, it is illogical. I found and adjusted myself to stop expecting logic and commonsense from government and bureaucracies.
Yes, you will need a new Federal check. Even more so that you are changing jobs. |

I guess I didn't see the thread. Just curious what everyone has done since I hadn't seen or heard of the rule. |

What everyone did means what the majority of the people did. That is they got new documents. In your case, you should get new documents now. Do you have 2-3 months to get all this done? Can you change your visa to a D10?
This would be a tactic "everyone" hasn't done. Look at all options. |

When you re-signed for the second year, were you not asked for it then? Or were you asked to sign something saying that you promised to give it the next time? There was a lot of information going around about this.
Basically, I think you need an apostilled National criminal record check and also an apostilled certified copy of your degree to get a new E2 visa regardless of where you work. |

I work for EPIK and my MOE never contacted me after I finished my first contract for the school I'm at now. Perhaps they did an electronic Korean police check but my CT never said anything about it.
Was it somewhere between Oct. and Dec. 2010 when the rule changed? I re-signed last Sept. |

That's 5 months, plenty of time to get documents. What's all the hubbub, bub? |

I'm in the same situation.
I just have a state check from way back when. The only thing I signed last year for my renewal concerned a Korean background check.
Still no news about the FBI thing. Guess I'll give it another month and hope to hear from the powers that be. |

if you are switching to F6 before your contract ends, AND you are American and didn't get the CBC last year before resigning....do you need a CBC this time? I thought the F6 sort of exempts you. No? |
