PostPosted: Sun Oct 16, 2011 7:34 pm    Post subject: End of Contract E2 Transfer Questions Reply with quote

I'm planning on finishing my current hagwon contract and then using the last month on my E2 visa to have it transferred to a new job. With the new E2 guidelines, would it be possible to shuffle into a Public school gig assuming I have everything else, like resume, application, photos etc ready to go? Since I'm already on an E2, would I just give them my ARC, my passport with the unexpired E2 visa, or would I have to obtain some of the documents that were required to get my E2 (ie FBI CRC, etc)?

Will I be able to neatly extend my current E2 by way of a transfer to the public school? Anyone have experience doing this?

Secondly, I'm an American with a B.A. in French. As I understand it, E2 means just foreign language teaching. Would I, as an American national, be able to teach French in Korea or are there nationality requirements for foreign languages other than English (New Zealand, British, Australian, American, South Africa, etc)?

Thanks for any insight!

The process is easy and doable, maybe they will want a new CBC (OUCH!!), but your main problem now is finding a public school that will hire you on such short and late notice.

Do you think you can get a CBC and find an interested public school wanting to hire you? It would have to be one of those ASAP jobs where possibly a teacher left all of a sudden.

Good luck.

If you are changing employers you will need a new cbc because you have less than 1 month left on your visa.. Good luck, hope you're not American!!

I am an American. All of my documents were apostilled when submitted for this current E2 - and my CBC was national. Will I still need a new one come the end of my contract?

Best to ask immigration. You also might have better luck getting another school in an area which uses the same immigration office. You should first find the school, and then go to immigration so they know you have another school wanting to hire you. It will be easier to say yes. If you just show up unemployed, they probably won't ok it as much.

IF Kimmi has your apostilled (national (FBI if from the states)) CRC and an apostilled copy of your parchment on file then the transfer process is simple and you only need:
passport
ARC
new contract
application form
fee (30k won)
new employer's sponsorship (guarantee form)
copy of new employers business registration.

.

Typo on the fees (on my part).

60k won for the transfer and 30k for the extension.

You don't need a health check for the transfer.

Just went to transfer.from a d10 to an e2 again and the woman kept saying they would have to.check my korean criminal background check. I dont believe ive been in any trouble with the authorities here. Is it normal? Made me want to.confess to something.

She still processed the visa though. Anyone else been checked by immigration?
