Hi

I may have a job. I would like to ask anyone about dentists in Gwangju. My daughter will be coming with me and she has braces. Are there dentists there that can take care of her needs?

Also can you get Milk in Korea? Like USA milk? lol

TY.

This is kind of like when my grandma asked my girlfriend if there were movies in Korea.

Answer to your questions: yes (though the milk tastes a little bit different than American milk).

If you can find Denmark milk, or a brand called Ju-ju ba (I think that's what it's called) they are prepared similar to, and taste like western brands (pasturized) sp?

In general dental work is cheap and excellent in Korea.

Milk is everywhere.

Not sure if you've been through all this on the forum already, but how old is your child? Have you really thought through the implications of bringing her to Korea? I love the ESL lifestyle in Korea for myself but I would never inflict this upon a child of my own unless a) I was loaded or b) my spouse was Korean.

Thank you, Skip.. Yes I have gotten all kinds of advice on this board and other places too. Some are negative, some are positive..My daughter is 10 years old. She will be going to school where I will be teaching. You're right is has been a tough decision, but I am willing to take a leap of faith. That's what life is anyway, right?
Thank you for your concern.

What? People don't run around desperately in need of orthodontics in Korea. This isn't England or Japan; it's civilized.

I kid. I kid. Laughing

I've seen some horrible dentist's offices here. Horrible. I've also seen some incredibly nice ones. You'll probably be able to tell the difference as soon as you walk in. Just ask some of your co-workers where they recommend going. If it looks bad, just ask someone for another place. I think that braces are very common here. I don't think you'll have a problem with that.

The milk does taste different here.

Taking "leaps of faith" should be regarding your own life--not your daughter's. But you have made your decision. What school will you be teaching at? A public school?
Good luck OP, I seem to remember your earlier thread and it appears you are going against strong recommendation to stay home for the sake of your child at your call center job. I apologize if this isn't you, but I think I remember your screen name, too.

Dodge,

I am a Master's degreed teacher teaching in a public school elementary school. I do not get why you are so insulting. My daughter is from Russia, and has been on many trips as well as having a horrible upbringing before I adopted her.

If going to Korea SUCKS so bad, then why are you on here?

Why would I mention where I am going? So you can tell me how terrible that is too?

I do not get why some people stay on this forum if they are so unhappy in Korea. If you hate it so much go somewhere else!

Plenty of people travel with their kids or take their kids with them when they work abroad. Nothing new there. No more risk than at home.

I'm a Middle School teacher in the States, too. I'm also married to a Korean and have a baby on the way. She has a great job here so we are tied down in Korea financially. I came here when I was single and had many choices on what to do with my life. Your choices are somewhat limited having a 10 year old daughter, no? Don't be upset when it doesn't go your way, that's all I'm saying. If it works out, great!

Just how is your daughter going to get taught in school when she doesn't know a lick of the language?
