Since I don't have an ARC (here on a tourist visa), I can only get a single entry visa to China according to my travel agent. I am going to be entering China on June 8 to start a Trans-Mongolian railway trip. But, I have a layover in China on May 26 on my way to Hong Kong. My concern is that they will stamp/use my visa on May 26 and then when I try to enter on June 8 the visa will no longer be valid. I know when you have layovers in China you can just get a transit visa but I'm afraid if I have that single entry visa in my passport then they will just stamp it. Has anyone done this before or does anyone have any advice for me?? |

If you can find someone that can write Chinese, come prepared with a letter written in Chinese stating what your concern is, that you don't want to use the visa for your layover, and that you would like a 24 hour transit visa (which is what they give out). Good communication is going to be the key with this issue. If you're an American your visa is going to cost something like $150 US. It's a bit of a crap shoot, is officer at the airport going to be smart for is he going to be dumb. I don't think they will use your visa, because it should be obvious that you have another connection when they look at your airline ticket, but make sure they know right then and there that your ticket is to Hong Kong and you have another connection. I find it to be really dumb that you have to go through immigration to go to another airline connection, but I guess that's how it is in a workers paradise. Power to the people, personally I think that a person from the imperialist USA and its running dog lackeys should be made to pay a lot for it's decandent lies and the chains that it imprisons the workers with. |
