ok, let me get this straight.
- As an American expat I have to file my taxes every year.
- I get an extra 2 months to do this.
-I should file both a 1040EZ and a 2555EZ.
- The 2555EZ makes it so I dont actually owe any money that the 1040EZ says I do.
- If the above is the case will they charge me and then refund me?
How exactly do I complete a 1040EZ without a W-2? Do I just put my Korean salary there or do I put a big fat zero?
Also, how do back taxes work. I didnt file my 2009 or 2008 taxes. If I send them all at the same time will the IRS just accept them? |

Try this...Information for U.S. Citizens or Dual Citizens Residing Outside the U.S.
http://www.irs.gov/newsroom/article/0,,id=250788,00.html
"The IRS is aware that some taxpayers who are dual citizens of the United States and a foreign country may have failed to timely file United States federal income tax returns or Reports of Foreign Bank and Financial Accounts (FBARs), despite being required to do so. Some of those taxpayers are now aware of their filing obligations and seek to come into compliance with the law. This fact sheet summarizes information about federal income tax return and FBAR filing requirements, how to file a federal income tax return or FBAR, and potential penalties." |
