I don't care that much for Cotto, but I would REALLY like to see Floyd get knocked out. That being said...
Cotto is going to be on the receiving end of a one-sided beating. For the third time, his face is going to be a puffy, saggy, bloody mess.
Floyd is going to stay at a distance and hit Cotto with lightning fast HARD pot shots. Miguel likes the one-handed defense (using the right hand to catch shots on either side of his chin) but he won't be able to use that with any effectiveness on Floyd. Floyd's right hand will be crushing Cotto's eye before the defending glove can come over to catch it.
Think about it this way: do you think that Floyd has slipped at ALL over the past 4-5 years? No way. Back then he beat Oscar handily, and Oscar is much better than Miguel Cotto. Everyone said that Oscar would beat Floyd up against the ropes. Well, it didn't happen. Floyd uses all sorts of skills and cheese to nulify body attacks on the ropes. He made body-puncher Hatton look incompetent when his back was on the ropes (which was Ricky's only chance).
Don't believe the hype. The fight is a mismatch. In the same way that Oscar and Hatton were inneffective, Cotto will also be. Jesus, did you see the trouble Cotto had with Mayorga? That was only a year ago!
Someone on another forum said something like, "Cotto, if you're reading this, give it your all, but when you get to the point that you know you're finished, please DQ yourself by kicking Floyd as hard as you can in the balls" |

Glad somebody is interested in this. Not many boxing fans here.
But you're right Joe Cotto has no chance. Honestly, I doubt many people who know something about boxing actually think Cotto can win. Except maybe Puerto Ricans and die-hard Cotto fans. The only different assessment I would give is that I think Floyd will actually come out aggressive at times. Just like he did with Ortiz and Mosley. I expect head to head infighting at spurts.
Can't believe you don't like Cotto though. Dude is humble, has an entertaining fighting style, and carries himself like a man. |

You're right, he is all of the above. And I always liked him up until his face-to-face with Antonio Margarito, where Margarito said he would fight to the death, and Cotto said that he wouldn't, because he has a family and boxing is just his job.
I guess I'm being harsh on him, but I like the warriors that are "kill or be killed". He had the opportunity to say that he would be a warrior, but I guess the guy is just too honest! Haha, I guess I can't fault him for that. |

| I understand. I have have an affinity for warrior like fighters like Margarito and Rios too. For what Cotto said, I doubt he'll ever just give up during a fight. |

Well, he did take a knee vs Margarito, and looked like he wanted to get the hell out of there. Of course, Margarito likely had loaded gloves for that fight. |

Here's episode 2. I'm liking Cotto's trainer more and more.
Joe, what do you think about the Alvarez vs Mosley fight? I think Canelo should win despite having the best opponent in his career. I think Mosley's too old and he's gotten in a habit of running in his recent fights.
Not sure what to think about Canelo overall though. The guy is something special for sure but I see a lot of flaws with his style. Hope his trainer polishes him up.
Here's a special HBO did on Canelo. Mosley also talks about how the fire is back in him.

| I hope Cotto doesn't get hurt too bad - during my teaching practicum (in Springfield, MA) one of my best 4th grade students, a girl with the same family name, claimed to be his second or third cousin. |

sure he is good, but his fights can be boring at times. he is more of a showman out of the ring than in it.
still one of his better fights with Cotto though.
so when Manny beats Bradley Jr,
manny and floyd have no one else to fight but each other.
Floyd needs to not act like he is the superstar and offering manny a fight,.
but more like two super stars are both agreeing to fight each other.
and Manny needs to take the drug test.
split the proceeds 50/50 and put on the fight of the century and one man walks away victorious.
of course a rematch might have to schedule to give the loser a chance to redeem himself ,if the loser was to lose again then we know who is the true pound for pound fighter.
and I am going with manny. |

It was a good fight. Cotto made it entertaining by being the toughest challenge for Floyd since Castillo I. End your combinations with a double jab. Gotta do that shit myself.

I honestly don't know how people can think Floyd's fights are boring except for the Baldomir bout. How can people not appreciate the level of technique the guy exhibits? Everybody how actually boxes loves watching him fight. |
