PEOPLE'S PARK is nice and the beautiful pond in the middle of it has a great bar called the Barbarosa Lounge, sit on the porch enjoy a drink at night you are in the center of Shanghai and yet sitting in a Chinese garden.
I agree with the poster who touted the French concession, some lovely mansions left over from the colonial period. |

People's Park is nice. Be careful of all of the pickpockets and be ready for many people coming up to you to speak/practice Englishee.
Barbarosa is a cool/hip spot to have a couple of drinks. It's pricey, but as mentioned worth checking out.
And, of course, the Former French Concession is a must in many ways. |

Yeah the people come up to you to get you to go to a juicy bar so they can have you part with your money. They seemed to focus on middle aged men. |
