| Thanks for all the replies. My doctor at home told me to stop taking Dianette, but agreed to another prescription so I guess maybe it is time to change. So can you just walk in to any doctors (like a family one) to get the prescription? I don't live in Seoul center so I wouldn't ever be able to go to any specialist 'muff' doctors (haha). So Yasmin is available, but u gotta get a prescription? Are doctors open at weekends? |
I think the doctors are open at the weekend. I think it does need to be a gynecologist where you go though. I tried other avenues in my small town but wasn't successful.
It doesn't need to be some super specialist or anything though. Any town of moderate size should have a women's hospital.
So yes, Yasmin is available, you DO need a prescription but once you have one it should either be stocked in the pharmacy or if you live somewhere very small they'll be able to order it for you within a few days.
Remember if it's the weekend you might need to get this all sorted in the morning as that's when they're most likely to be open.
Yasmin in Korean is 야스민 and contraceptive pill is 먹는 피임약 |

Yes you're right. I first took this 3 years ago. I went to the doctor because I had never been on bcp before and didn't know which one would be suitable. He said I didn't need a prescrption and for the first few months I was OK. Round the 5th or 6th month they started inisiting I needed one. I'm off it now, but I can confirm you definitely need a script for this one too. |

Yes, I needed a script for Yasmin (or a similar one) the last time I was in Korea (Sept, 2010). I used to be able to get it at the pharmacy very cheaply, but apparently the rules had changed. Also, I'm not sure if this was just my doc, but I could only get a one or two month script at a time - no repeats. And it was expensive >20,000 a pack |

I am using a brand of birth control called Dianette and am soon to run out. Other pills with the same active ingredients are Acnocin, Cicafem, Clairette, Diva, Diane-35 and Ginette35. (They are called co-cyprindiol tablets).
I was wondering if anybody had had found these in Korea and if so was a prescription required? Just though I would ask here before heading to the Doctors/ Pharmacist!
Thanks so much |

| I understand that some people have a reason to be picky about their BC, but if you are at all flexible, you should at least TRY Mercilon or another "OTC" brand. It's so cheap and easy to get and it works fine in my experience. I'm actually more satisfied with this than I was with the more expensive brand I used before I came here. The hassle of doctor's appointments and whatnot are so not worth it. |

| I switched to Mercilon when I moved here. It messed my cycle up for a month, but since then, I've been fine. |

I have PCOS so ideally I need one of the pills I mentioned since it really helps my symptoms for that! Otherwise, I promise I would not be so fussy |
