A former coworker of mine whom I thought was a total doof turned out to be a talented car salesman. He got a job with a Samsung Motors dealership after leaving my company and after five tough months, he came out like gangbusters. He now averages 10 million to 15 million won a month in earnings and ranks nationally among Samsung sales reps in Korea.

I hear insurance sales reps make the most money but it's a damn tough gig to break into. The marketing NEVER stops with that.

As for trades, Korea has a few meister schools modeled after the German example, and I hear that most of the graduates got jobs after finishing school and earned far more money than university grads.

It's the same in the USA. I could have made A LOT more money studying a trade than if I had gone to university. Joke's on us.

You appear to be one of the smarter Americans. I've met a lot of the indebted ones that have a sense of false entitlement. They seem to think they're very smart and in a very limited, narrow-focused way they are, but in 'big picture' terms they really just don't get it. They're not well-rounded people that go their own way. You potentially are.

One of my brothers friends completed his apprenticeship (4 years I think) in instrumentation. He does very well.
