Hi

Got zapped for 500 won today (Sunday) when withdrawing with my NH card at an NH ATM. The funny thing is, I think I remember withdrawing on a Sunday before using my savings passbook instead of the card and not being zapped. I might be wrong.

Questions:

1) If you use the savings passbook to make a withdrawl, does this prevent the after hours fee?

2) What are the days and hours during which there is no fee charged for using the NH card at an NH ATM?

Thanks for any info.

Whatever the product name of your checking account is, change it to the one named '채움샐러리맨우대통장' and have your paycheck deposited into this one.
As long as monthly cash inflow exceeds 500k Won, off-hour ATM fees for withdrawal and transfer payment are waivered, and so are all fees for internet/mobile banking.
Fee waiver applies to, however, ATMs under Central NH(농협중앙회) management. It doesn't apply to local NH societies and their ATM network, even though they're entities somewhat tied or affiliated to the Central NH.

I've noticed different NH's will charge different amounts for withdrawal.
But during banking hours,9-4:30, there should be no charge.

My wife had surgery and we checked out of the hospital on a Saturday and my fees were 200,000 more than if we had checked out on a weekday. The hospital explained this to me and we got a 200,000 won refund the next time we visited for a check-up. It was weird.

This is why I bank at Citi. No ATM fees whatsoever (for Citi AND non-Citi), and ATM fee refunds for non-Citi ATMs.

But if you live in the boonies and the nearest Citi Bank is an hour away it's a hassle.

That's why Citi refunds non-Citi ATM fees. And I go to the branch like twice a year if even that. I can see how it could be a hassle though.

Do they have discounts at popular franchises like the local banks?

Thanks- About this 채움샐러리맨우대통장 account, are there any downsides I need to know about? For example what happens if by chance one month the school pays in cash instead of by bank transfer? Are there any disadvantages to this account?

This is a fairly simple account without much of sophisticated T&C except for the cash inflow above 500k Won clause, and that you shall be 20-year-old or above. Naturally, corresponding EAR is negligible, not even compensating for inflation.

I see no restriction on the product description saying deposit has to be made by bank transfer only, but eligibility for the waiver will be automatically re-evaluated at the end of each month to be applied throughout the following month.
