Hello,
We are currently graduate students from Yonsei University's School of Public Health. We have been doing some research on foreigners in Korea, and we would like to get some more information to help us proceed.
This is for a class project that may be turned into something more so I hope everyone can take it. The content of the survey is strictly private and will be kept confidential. We understand that some of the questions in the survey are very personal in nature,
It's 10 questions, and should take less than 5 minutes to do.
http://www.surveymonkey.com/s/DP75TGS
If you have any questions, feel free to ask as I'll be checking back once in awhile.
Thank you!!!

Look, OP, if you're actually legit, your survey has a major flaw: you have no way of accounting for different sorts of sexual relationships, yet you seem to be testing for a correlation between alcohol use and practicing safe sex.
You need to realize that there is a huge difference between practicing safe sex as a monogamous, long-term couple and as a single individual "playing the field" (or someone in an open relationship). I will not answer your survey as a married person (who underwent sexual health testing and practices another form of birth control) because I don't want results being skewed to unfairly paint a picture of low condom use among your sample population.
Also, assuming you are legitimately conducting this research in association with Yonsei, you should have some more contact information available- who is the faculty member overseeing this? Shouldn't you present some sort of official notice on privacy and reporting of the research results? |
Yes, there are many major flaws in how the survey was created partially due to the limitations of the actual website (10 questions) and the forum that we're using it by. If we were actually conducting a real survey, this would probably not be done on a ESL forum, has all the standard privacy guidelines, etc.
We understand that it looks sketchy but we're trying to basically design a mock program on some type of public health issue, where is the best place to target promotional activities, what kind of people do we target, and how do we get these ideas across to our target audience. That's the main focus of our project, rather than the actual data here.
We hope this clears it up a bit. |

seriously, if you're engaged in proper research, please don't use surveymonkey.
i can't really see any good possible outcome for people from eslcafe in taking this quiz. honestly, it seems designed to make foreign teachers look like bisexual alcoholics and anal sex fiends. (of course, in writing that, i'm well aware that people will now click on the survey... haha) |

Is this the kind of graduate research that's being conducted at Yonsei University? Definitely scratching that place off the list of potential places to attend. What is the pertinence of or context around a study based on foreigners, alcohol use, sexual preferences, condom use, and condom use when under the influence of alcohol? Oh, yeah... forgot where I was for a second. Bobbyhanlon is right, it's a trap, don't take the survey. I surely hope there are more relevant and important issues to public health being focused on there. Surveymonkey, good lord man. |

I'm afraid you're not going to get any responses with a survey like that. |

I agree. Did you ever have a squirrel? Did you ever comb that squirrels hair with a comb that was missing teeth? while under the influence of doritos? Did you ever, or do you intend to ever pet your neighbors squirrel, without his/her expressed written consent? |

It's not actually trolling.
The project itself is about going through the motions of identifying a possible problem in Public Health and finding ways to solve it.
The first step is to obtain the data. Normally this data would be collected through other means other than a survey online (taken in schools, hagwons, companies, hospitals, etc) but those require significant time and money, we're trying to mimic it by asking people on foreigner websites.
It's not actually how we do research here at Yonsei, but just a class project |

There's actually a decent amount of data on that kind of stuff already, but for the project, we aren't allowed to use any previous data. I hope people after reading what you wrote will click on it !
BTW: Thank you for everyone that has responded! |

I'd like to know whose idea this "project" was. The gook can't catch a break here, you want to further the concept that not only do we all breath AIDS on children and stuff yayo-filled condoms up our backside, but that we also have a penchant for drunken unprotected anal sex? Why not focus on the local population? Ask them. We're cool on this side. All we want is for people to stop staring at us because they automatically think we want to have unprotected drunken anal sex with their women. |

Actually a group of foreign students came up with the idea of this project. |

*Note the edit.
Clearly groundbreaking minds prioritizing dutifully to research and solve public health issues at an elite graduate institution. I really don't understand this, am I missing why this is not innately ridiculous? How is this supposed to help anyone? Even if you create a comprehensive study, I don't see how it would be used in any form other than propaganda against foreigners in Korea. |
