Hi,

I have read all of the discussions on the board regarding drug testing, but many are nearly 3 years old. So I hope I will not get BLASTED for asking, but if I do then I guess ok. Will Lorazepam show up on drug test in Korea?
Thank you for any kind response.

Lorazepam eh? Talk about an outdated highly addictive drug. Do you have a Rx? If so bring a doctors note and you'll probably be fine. Might want to stop taking the stuff two weeks prior to coming over here just to be safe though.

i tried to reference my most recent health report from March to answer your question, but i left the document at home. i am almost 100% sure that the drug test for E2 visas does not test for benzodiapam based medication like lorazapam. it only tests for opiates, cannabanoids, cocaine, and amphetamines. so in theory you shouldnt worry about having to take your meds. but to be on the safe side, bring a copy of your script.

ill check my paper work again, and if they did test me for benzos, ill post another reply.

i don't recall them testing for anti depressants or other things like that. They were looking for narcotics (coke), meth, herb, opiates, but i think that was it.

I just assumed because I don't know.. Do they usually NOT test for E-7? I had to fill out a medical form but that's all I have done or heard so far. If you find out something, could you please let me know. TY.

Last time I applied for an E-7 there was no testing. Admittedly this was like 15 months ago. But the E-7 has its own unique pain in the ass requirements and does not trend with the E-2.

From my experience, the special requirements just have to do with providing documented proof of work experience and qualification for the job. I have never heard of an E-7 even having to fill out the health form, but that doesn't mean that immigration hasn't changed its policies regarding that visa type recently.

dharma,

Yes, Thank you for the info. I did have to provide a lot of background. I am so worried about the dumb drug test, I can't even enjoy the process! Even though they are legally prescribed. Dumb I know.
Are you still in Korea?

I wouldn't worry too much about it. I personally don't think you'll have to end up taking the test--and, even if you do, it shouldn't be a problem since you have a prescription. And, from what others are saying, they might not even test for what you're taking when they actually do give the test to people.

With that said, you might want to do a little bit of internet research elsewhere or even call immigration to check to see if that is a requirement for E-7s now.

Also, to answer your question, I am still in Korea.

Hope that helps!

Thank you again, I appreciate your kind posts. There are so many cynics here, I am afraid to post sometimes. I will definitely take your advice.
