In fact, the best results are obtained in ESL using methods quite contrary to what the Education teachers (and many with useless TEFL program certifications) have been mislead into using. It's no surprise they fail so often.

So all the experts doing all that research over all the years while TEFL has been developing, fine tuning techniques and testing the theories that lie behind these courses are all wrong and you're right?

However, since those without credentials usually get started learning the correct way to teach from the outset, they end up becoming better teachers.

I see. So people without training start off by doing a better job than those with training. Does this apply to other jobs as well? I mean do doctors without any training treat their patients better than those with medical degrees? Or is teaching the only profession where training actually makes you worse at it than you were before?

Those worst 6 teachers I've seen in Korea, all with credentials, (mentioned above) were all fired. One was fired 5 times times from five different schools during an 18 month period, getting a job because of credentials and fired because of incompetence - credentials did not grant the ability to be a teacher.

This is meaningless. We don't know how bad these teachers would have been without training so we can't compare.

My advice is go away and get some training yourself then come back on here and explain exactly how it made you a worse teacher than you were before. Until you do that, only other people without any qualifications will ever take you seriously.

It would be nice if someone could occasionally ask a question like this without sparking a twelve page battle about qualifications wherein all participants think their qualifications are best.

It's easy. Qualified, licensed teachers are PREFERRED over anyone else with a basket weaving degree with TEFL cert. Plain and simple.
