helping you find a specific kind of teaching job? Like if you had a list of hand-picked schools and credentials specific to those schools, could a recruiter be of any help to you in approaching them or not? |

If all chances are equal, you would be batting 1 to 3.
1. The school already knows English, they can hire you.
2. The school doesn't know English and you don't know Korean, you and they need a recruiter.
3. You know Korean, they can hire you.
You would have to be looking at schools that don't know English in order to need a recruiter. An English school that doesn't know English?
This type of thing is better for a F visa holder who is allowed to pick up privates anywhere, like on a part-time basis. I am not sure how useful it would be for E2 visa holders. |

With my experience of recruiters, you will go through all the hassle fo fine tuning your resume and job search criteria etc, only to wait a month to find the following in your inbox one morning
'Hot job!!!!! No qualifications needed!!!!!!! Close to Seoul Metropolitan area (120kms) 2.2mil only 20hrs KINDY and 15 hrs ELE per week! Hakwan director knows good English (how to order coffee and use subway and greet you etc..) Apply to us now...'

Thank you all. Sultan_of, I appreciate that dose of reality.
What if you were an F2, and you had decent key money of your own? Would you have more flexibility then or would you not even bother with a recruiter? |

What if you just won the lotto?
Too many what if's. Why not use a recruiter? If a recruiter gets you a job you like, take it. Using a recruiter doesn't come at a cost to you. You aren't the one hiring them, or at least you don't need to be. |

One of my friends is married to a recruiter, so she is specifically looking for a good job for me that matches my preferences. If you can find a recruiter with a personal relationship to you, then you can do that, otherwise I doubt it. |

It was 50% tongue in cheek, but you WILL experience it.
I think you have the right idea basically but in your emails to them you must stress in BOLD, CAPITAL LETTERS, UNDERLINED etc and even with a different color font - exactly what you want and don not want.
Another thing is to get your resume where it can be seen - worknplay.co.kr and the other one which I cannot remember but is really good - guys, help...? |
