Hi

Has anyone used their NH Bank atm card overseas? I have a card that NH assures me will work overseas, however they say I will probably need to add two zeros "00" to my regular PIN number.

BUT nobody seems to know for sure if I should add the two zeros BEFORE or AFTER the regular PIN number. Some NH people are telling me before and some are telling me after.

Has anyone actually used an NH atm card overseas and know if the zeros should go before or after the regular pin?

I can try both (and just the 4 digit pin, too), but I'm worried about exceeding the maximum false attempts and having the card eaten by the machine or something.

Thanks for any firsthand experience.

Well my firsthand experience with the NH card that I was assured would work overseas was it didn't work overseas!!!!

Then when I came back, I was told that NH can't give cards that work overseas to foreigners! Evil or Very Mad

Does your card have a Maestro logo? If so I wouldnt hold my breath.

You will have some one chime in and say that they had success using their ATM card overseas but I assure you, the card usually doesn't work abroad.

Maybe you can try calling the NH English operator. They should be able to give you the right answer.

I would take an extra card just in case. Confused

Do NOT, do NOT EVER rely on an NH 'Global' card to work outside of Korea. When it doesn't, and you need it to, you'll have no one to blame but yourself.

Seriously. I went to three different branches and spent over an hour dumping a Maestro debit card for a Visa 'Global' card. I tallked to five different employees, including one who spoke basically fluent English. I was assured several times that the card would work anywhere with a Visa logo, including SPECIFICALLY all overseas ATMs.

I went to Beijing with this card, stopped by a Chinese bank with a Visa logo, popped in the card: nothing. Tried three other Chinese banks: nothing. Tried it in Phnom Penh: nothing. Pulled out my KEB Visa: worked like a charm in both places.

Forget the dinkering around with zeros. NH is a card for Korea, KEB is a card for other places.

I have a NH Check Card that has both the Maestro and Cirrus logos on it. I tried it and it worked for me in the US, Thailand, and Vietnam. I was told to enter the extra numbers, but I just entered my regular PIN. Good Luck
