|
|
I was surprised recently when lotte gave me a credit card.
I already have a Samsung credit card, and on months where I don't want to pay the whole balance, I just phone their English telephone service and tell them, to only take out the minimum payment for that moth (10%) and they happily do it.
Can someone tell me - does Lotte Card have an English phone service?
and what is the number? |

I also have a Samsung card.
Where did you sign up for your Lotte card ?
Do you mind telling me the limits on it?
Thanks. |

Downstairs at Lotte Department store at Jamsil.
Out where the huge fountain semi-naked sculptures are.
All you need to take is your ARC and Medical insurance card. (You should also know your school address - as they require it) - They also want you to write your name, address, etc - everything in Korean.
Limit is 5 million (same as my Samsung card).
Still searching for Lotte cards English phone service number...... anyone? |

They might not have one, there are no English numbers for my KB or Hyundai credit cards.
I have to get my wife to call and she has to explain to them for 10 minutes that it is okay for her to speak on my behalf.
The availablity of credit cards has really changed in the past couple of years or so, but there is still a lack of services for non-Korean speakers.
Why they don't outsource their English lines to India like our banks do back home? |

Lotte does have an English-language number, it's 02-2050-3410, or it was about six months ago. Often, they'll tell you that an English speaker isn't there or is busy, and you can usually find an English speaker at their regular number (1588-8100) as well.
The reason for not outsourcing their English lines is that there simply aren't enough English speakers with credit cards in South Korea. The proportion is roughly the same as that of Korean speakers in Canada, which is to say a fraction of one percent.
More important than an English speaker on the phone, I think, is that the website and all communication (emails, texts) is in Korean. I get an email with my statement every month, but it's all in Korean. |
