Doubt this thread will interest many or live long, but I just wanted to remark about my garden.

Found my little house last november, my real estate agent knowing I coveted a bit of yard. Included an established garden about 1X5 meters. Doesnt sound very big but this spring its been an ongoing show. The quince tree has put on a nice display of blossoms & the persimmon tree is just a step behind. Theres a third mystery tree just starting to leaf out.

Two different flowering shrubs provide a border & theres a mass of decorative grass coming on. Also a bunch of lilies, some azaleas, & maybe some other surprises. Birds & butterflies outside my window this afternoon. I'm chuffed. To my old cat, previously housebound all her life, the outdoors is an epiphany.

Still a couple little blank spaces to fill in & theres a garden store just down the street, I'm thinking about what else I might add.

It'll get morning sun & dappled shade in the afternoon. Looks like reasonable soil & drainage. Specific suggestions?

I asked my dad for specifics, as he's far more expert than I am, and he said that if your lilies are flowering you have enough sunlight to grow whatever you want. Personally, I'd go for basil over anything else, as I'm a sucker for pesto and it's way too expensive in Korea to make the stuff (which is super easy if you have any culinary abilities whatsoever). Rosemary is also easy, and you can bring it in during the winter if you have it in a pot. Really though, with what you have it sounds like you could grow whatever you want.
