My neighbors are driving me nuts with their door slamming. Just about everyone in my building slams their apartment door (and the front building door) every time they enter or leave. It doesnt matter what time of day or night it is. The door gets slammed. Ive been woken up countless times after falling asleep, and early in the morning. Its shockingly obnoxious and inconsiderate of others. I want to put a note on the front door that basically says,
Please respect your neighbors! Close this door (and your apartment door) quietly please. This is especially important late at night and early in the morning. Thank you kindly".
Problem is, I dont know how to write this in Korean. Is there anyone here whose Hangeul skills are sufficiently advanced as to translate this for me? If so, Id be most grateful. |

I don't think writing it is going to help much. At my school, most of the students are door slammers. The English office is on the same corridor with one grade's homeroom classes. It annoys the F out of me, but doesn't seem to bother the homeroom teachers at all. Now, the running in the halls thing is a totally different beast altogether. The native teachers are the only ones it seems that are interested in enforcing this even though it is clearly a safety issue. K teachers just seem oblivious to it. |

I have the same problem, and one of my neighbors is a waygookin (the worst offender to boot). Being inconsiderate transcends cultural boundaries, believe me. |

Had same problem
Had my boss write a note in korean that read
"I am a teacher and have to teach studetns in the morning. Please do not bang the door loudly at night because then I cannot sleep and it is not good for my students."
It really did help a little. For a while.
Koreans just love their noise..! |

Everyone in my apartment building slams doors as well. Its basically like living in a drum.
Ear plugs. Life in Korea is impossible without them. |

Something like this.
문을 조용히 닫아 주세요. 시끄러우면 이웃들에게 피해를 줍니다. 특히 아침과 저녁에 유의해 주시기 바랍니다. 부탁합니다.
But beware, people can just easily ignore it. People smoked so much in the bathroom stalls where I work that the building owner actually put a sign in every bathroom that said, "Smoking indoors is against regulations, but if you're going to smoke please at least have the decency to not spit and toss your cigarettes on the floor!"
Doesn't work. |

Amen.
If earplugs did not exist, I would get on a plane and go home tomorrow (seriously.) |

What gets me is the foot stomping of the people above me. It's disgustingly inconsiderate, happens until maybe 2am every single night. They also move heavy furniture, scrape it along the floor, every single night at 1.30am. I hate them so much I can't stand it. |

My front door is in a corner which has another apartment's door right next to it so both doors can come into contact with each other. When my neighbour opens that door they don't do it slowly, they literally fling it open and it bashes into my door with a tremendous *thud*. One of these days I am going to tear their door down... |

Agree completely. This nearly drove me to the brink of insanity at my last apartment. And everytime I came home I would bring the friggin house down. Let them know when the Gukin gets home.[/url] |

Signs don't work here. Earplugs are your best bet.
Or turn up the music so loud their precious can't study. Hit 'em where it hurts. |

Take all of them hostage. Glue their hands to their doorframes, and break all of their fingers by slamming their own doors on their hands.
This will not only teach them to stop slamming doors, but it will make you feel better too.
Or get some earplugs. |
