There are a couple of uni jobs being advertised on this site and some of them request that you send your original diploma to them with the application form. Is this common? How does everyone get their diploma back? Am I missing something (a brain maybe)?
I have apostiled copies of my degree but I would be very wary sending the original.

I can get an "original" diploma from my University for $30. I'm sure you can call yours and get one for a similar price. Honestly it's easier to send that than to mail a copy around for apostilles.

Therein lies the rub. The advert asks for
"3) All diplomas apostilled, or verified by the Korean Consulate in the country of your nationality, or attached with documents issued by Korean Council for University Education and certificates (scanned and attached)".

Does it not make more sense to take the original diploma in with you if you get an interview? Do they send everyone back their diploma if they do not get an interview, and if not what do they do with all of the precious diplomas?

I piad for an apostilled copy of my diploma and have it here with me if I need it. My original diploma is home in a frame and there it is staying. I would NEVER hand it over to anyone Korean.

They just mean they don't want a photocopy or scan or whatever. They want something ORIGINALLY issued by the school, such as those apostilled copies you mentioned [assuming they are in fact issued by your school]. Any school that wanted my real, true original degree would not be getting an application from me. That's a ridiculous request.

Do they want it for the application or after you have taken to job? My school wanted it after I had accepted a job. I sent it, and will get it back when I get to Korea. If not I can order another one. I am more concerned about loisng my daughter's birth certificate.. she was born in Russia. I will never be able to replace it, but I sent it and pray I will get it back. They had to have it for my visa. I just have to pray about! Wink
