I'm really desperate on getting a job in Suncheon as my fiance is from the city and we're heading back this July from the UK (he's been studying here as an exchange student). It seems impossible though! Not keen on working in hagwons due to the late finishing hours (10pm?!) so we'd literally just be seeing each other for bed time and also heard that they prefer white teachers in private institutes (I'm a non-Korean Asian).
Anyone who's lived in Suncheon got any ideas?? |

Don't worry, you'll find a job. If I were you, I'd get a job at an upmarket hagwon chain (Avalon/Wonderland for example) and make sure that you do your job extremely well (you want the parents to know about the great new teacher). Network, get to know the kids' parents. Then, once you're married, get an F visa. This visa gives you complete freedom of employment. For example, you'll be able to apply for a permit to become a private tutor (that's were the connections you've made while you worked at the hagwon come handy). |

| Thanks for the help! Would u know how the situation is with public schools? Do teachers tend to get hired through recruiters for public schools (such as EPIK)? |

| Of the public school teachers that I've met, I don't think they are in the GEPIK contract. It seems to be done by recruiters. Also a lot of the hagwon teachers I've met aren't white. Don't worry too much. Good luck in job hunting~! |
