horses for courses ... everyone has their preferences.
i have an older kindle (with keyboard) and i love it. i've got about 350 books on there as well as academic articles for my studies. it's a great device. my wife has taken to reading it too and it's really getting a good workout. my kindle is a year old and it's earned its money 50 times already!
* battery lasts forever! it's ridiculously energy efficient.
* it's easy to use
* library is super easy to manage with calibre (highly recommended library software)
* i can buy books on amazon and they're automatically sent to the kindle when i turn on wifi
i usually torrent books (bibliotik is awesome!) but i do buy them occasionally. the kindle is a great e-reader and it has a really good support ecosystem with amazon's store.
i also jailbroke the kindle (easy to do) so that i could use custom screensavers ... the default ones suck.
any e-reader will do the job ... but i rarely hear bad things about kindle.
and regardless of your e-reader choice, download calibre and use it as your library management software ... also, check out project gutenberg for free (legal free) ebooks which are out of copyright and now public domain. lots of great stuff there! |

I've compared my old Nook to the Kindle, and the Kindle has slightly better text quality and contrast, but it's such a slight difference, it really doesn't matter. |
