does anyone living in the tristate area know of a place to get my degree as well as CBC apostilled/notarized? It would be great to do it in NYC because i dont have a car for transportation so using the subway would be great. I really appreciate any help!

I used Foreign Documents Express for apostilling official statewide and commercial national backround checks, and they were efficient. I'm not sure if they can apostille an FBI check, though. http://foreigndocumentsexpress.com/ny/index.php?option=com_contact&catid=9&Itemid=61

For the notary for the copy of your degree, you could probably just go to your bank to do it. Call ahead to double check and see when the notary will be in. Some UPS stores notarize documents for a fee as well. Or just google notary in your area and I'm sure a few places will come up. The apostille will have to be from the NY Department of State (or the same state where you get it notarized). You could probably take it there in person, mail it in, or use some sort of courier service.

For the FBI CBC, as far as I know, the apostille has to be from the U.S. Department of State in DC. Again, you can mail it in or use a courier service. If you mail it in, be prepared to possibly wait a few weeks before you receive it back. Alternatively, the U.S. Department of State does have walk-in hours and will apostille it the same day. It may be worthwhile to find a friend in the DC area to do it for you, or take the 4-hour megabus trip to DC to do it. http://www.state.gov/m/a/auth/
