Korea will soon launch a multi-purpose satellite equipped with a high-resolution camera capable of providing highly detailed images of the Earth's surface.

The Ministry of Education, Science and Technology says the launch is scheduled next Friday afternoon from the Tanegashima Space Center on Kyushu Island in Japan.

It will be the country's first high-resolution "sub-meter" satellite capable of capturing a target with a radius as small as 70 cm from almost 700 km above the Earth. The launch is part of Korea's plans to put six new satellites into orbit.

You mean Japan will launch a new satellite next week. Korea has yet to successfully launch a rocket into space.
