Same thing as the first F1 race which they finished the day before the race.

I wonder how many foreigners will come?

I remember Expo 86 in Vancouver (I lived near Vancouver), and haven't heard of one since. I don't think these Expo's are important to anyone except the host.

Shanghai Expo attendance, per Wikipedia, FWIW:

Quote:
Over 73 million people visited Expo 2010 during the 184-day event, breaking the previous record of 64 million visitors set by Expo 70 in Osaka. Organizers had expected 70 million visitors at the start of the expo. About 5.8 percent of the visitors, or 4.25 million, were foreigners.[9]

Korea not being prepared for a host of events is nothing new, but don't forget that Daejeon (or Taejon as it was called back in the 1990s) hosted a World Expo in 1993.

Let's see how far Korea has come since then.

Well at least Daejeon is pretty close to and accessible from Seoul and had some government offices and a big research facility that was also a college. Most foreign visitors are going to fly in through Seoul, and I'm not even sure Yeosu has an airport and if it does, I'm not sure i there's any scheduled commercial service into it.

Saw something about it on TV tonight. My wife didn't seem too enthused when I suggested we go.

Daejeon had a whole-hearted central government support back then, politically and budget-wise. Yeosu now? Not as much, current administration doesn't really give a s*** to this one. Neither to F1, for that matter.

The Korea World Fair is going to be totally dope and awesome. I am going to swim with dolphins and pet baby sea otters. All of you negative-nancies just wait and behold its splendor once it finally comes. Everyone is going to get there on hovercrafts and cruise ships anyway, so I don't see why the distance from Incheon matters. Maybe it only matters to a bunch of silly-sallies who hate Korea and world fairs, but luckily, I am not one of those.

Really problems with holding a massive business expo in Jeolla province, in a city that most Koreans have never been to and very few outsiders have heard of?

I went to the Expo in Shanghai. It was pretty cool. Really impressive pavillions. Well organized. Excitement in the air.

There's no way that this mess in Yeosu will come close to comparing to that. I was thinking of going, but am having doubts now. Will make it a day trip if I do go cause I don't want to get stuck paying $300 to stay in a love motel. Still not sure if it will be worth the trip.
