|
|
Hello,
I've secured a job which I'm pretty keen on but my recruiter says I need two apostilled copies of my degree. Unfortunately I only have the one copy apostilled and I am not sure if I can get another notarised and apostilled before my leaving date (as I am supposed to bring one with me). Does anyone know of a way of getting around this?
Pete.
EDIT: My recruiter has told me that I can have it sent over from the UK after I arrive in Korea if I do not receive it on time, does this sound okay to you guys? Has anyone done this? |

What kind of visa are you on? If E-2, you just need one copy for immigration. Then you can get a copy from immigration to give to the MOE. |

I have been told two things by recruiters:
You can ask for an official copy of your apostilled degree to be made at the time you have it apostilled.
OR
You can have immigration (to whom you should have already submitted 1 apostilled degree for your visa) issue you an official copy of the apostilled degree they have.
If your school is demanding a second degree, and will not accept either of the above options, your school will issue duplicate degrees upon request. However, you will need to pay for the second degree, wait for it to be printed and mailed, and then have it apostilled, which will cost more time and money.
My advice is to avoid requesting your school for a second degree But, again, this is just what I have been told by several recruiters. Good luck! |

Why would you need a duplicate degree? An apostille is attached to a notarized copy of your degree. The worst you'd have to do is get another notarized copy and get an apostille for that.

The preface for the beginning of this was, "If your school is demanding a second, original degree.."

What? |
I was told that you can ask for multiple copies of your apostilled degree. I'm not sure what kind of clarification you are looking for, so I'll just repeat it:
Several recruiters with whom I have spoke suggested that you can request additional copies of your apostilled degree at the time you have the original apostilling done.
Although, after rereading the post it seems like the OP is in the UK, and I have no idea how apostilling works there. Maybe you can't request additional copies to be made.
I still think he should be able to request a second copy from immigration though. But, what do I know? |

Ok, but the school cant nor would they demand that. Original degrees do nothing for you anymore since you need an apostille. And no one (I hope) is going to have their actual diploma notarized and apostilled. Theyre going to notarize a copy of the diploma and get an apostille put on that notarized copy.

Im confused because as it is, youre getting an apostille put on a notarized copy of your diploma. You can get as many apostilles as youve given notarized copies of your diploma. And the time you have the apostilling done?you mail the notarized copies (in the US, anyway) to the Secretary of State.
Anyway, this is moot. The MOE will only accept an original apostille (of your notarized copy of your diploma) or Kimmi made copy. |

Oh. You can also go in person to the Department of State to have apostilling done. I live close to DC; I guess I forgot most people mail their stuff. |

For the CBC, yes, but not for your diploma. OP is asking about the diploma.
...And I lived near DC, too. I walked the CBC into the DOS. But they don't apostlille documents notarized by the state. My notarized copy of my diploma was apostilled by Virginia's Sec. of State. |
