Has anyone worked in the editing department of Moonkkang? I've only seen reviews for the hagwon section, (which seems great!), but was wondering what it's like to work for the editing department. I heard you would need to write, edit, and possibly do voice/video acting. Any insight into this?

Thanks!

I don't know about Moonkkang specifically but editing jobs are generally the same overall:

- 9 to 6, occasional unpaid overtime during busy spells
- quiet environment (lonely if no other editors)
- sitting on your butt all day
- material you work with gets repetitive after a while
- pay tends to be higher but housing not provided

If you can stand a desk job, ask about the pay and if key money would be available for you to get a little place. If there are other editors that's a nice plus too.

Oh and I've heard fewer horror stories from editors but there are still crazy boss and ripoff stories from time to time.

Yeah, the hours are LONG but the pay is 2.7-2.8 starting and 3 weeks vaca (with a week more if you are there another year)...

Thanks for the info ^.^

Yeah the vaca and all that schizz may sound great, but I emphasized the butt in chair aspect for a reason. Not trying to be a jerk or anything, but it's a desk job. And I'd be willing to bet 2.7+ is without housing. I honestly don't know their situation but I was trying to lay down the basics.

Full disclosure, I applied in late 2010 but decided Daegu wasn't for me. Never worked there and nothing bad to say about it, but warmachineinkorea is most validated to discuss the place with you. Give him a shout through a private message. Wink

That's true~ I don't mind desk jobs too much... but, I really have a lot of thinking to do...

Oh, Moonkkang provides housing with their contract, and it's an e-7 instead of an e-2, so much less hassle and (hopefully) fewer ridiculous mid-year changes x.x (http://www.eslcafe.com/jobs/korea/index.cgi?read=51577)

Thanks for the heads-up about Daegu~ I actually have lived here for more than 2.5 years, so I know what I'm getting into with that ^.~ The area this place is in is okay~ not too far from downtown and it's on a subway line ^.^ Yay!

If they provide housing (I do recall seeing that in the ad) then it's most likely a solid gig. It's an excellent opportunity to break into editing.
