I've been researching some good places to buy wedding jewelry. The advice I've gotten from some of the other forums is that Hong Kong is a good place to go to buy an engagement ring and wedding rings. I'm hoping to propose this summer and thought that I could do it during a trip to Hong Kong and just buy the ring with my girlfriend. However, a friend told me that she the store she bought her jewelry from switched out the things she chose for imitations. She found out too late to do anything because she had to catch her plane.
So, does anyone have any suggestions for reputable stores or general areas with the best shops? Thanks for any help. |

Go to a licensed shop anywhere on the golden mile and you will be fine.
Go to a small shop on a side street somewhere and you take your chances.
Pick a stone, pick a ring and watch them put it all together for you right there while you wait (and watch if you are so inclined). Precious jewelry from properly licensed shops is guaranteed (by the city of HK) to be what is described on the receipt.

Any specific stores you'd recommend?
How do the prices compare with something like bluenile.com? (I know they don't ship to korea, but it's a great site for browsing, and a good place to see what u can get and how much they cost.) |

| I went to a place called Luk Fook Holdings. They have a website. I was very pleased with their services, plus they have other jewelry shops around the world and in my home town. |
