Hey everyone first post here I've been in Korea for a month now really enjoying my job but I've just been told my holiday dates. My contract states that

1) The Employee can get 10 days in total for a paid vacation while the Employee is under the contract. The days will be taken according to the Employers schedule. National Holidays, Saturdays and Sundays shall not be included in a paid vacation.

However for the summer they are giving us 5 days form Saturday to Wednesday.Do you think I should raise this issue given what the contract says and risk creating bad feeling in my workplace?

Weekends don't count as your vacation days. You get 10 working days. If your contract states that you don't work weekends, they don't count.

Yeah, this is usually for the Korean teachers, and then the foreign teacher will get extra days off after that. I usually get 2 days more than my coworkers because weekends are not included for foreigners. They might not realize this, or hope you won't notice... so talking to them is the best option... Good luck!

Yup, standard "5 day holiday". Your contract is pretty clear on this, so get those extra 2 days.. (the difference between a 5 day weekend, and a 9 day break is worth it).

it wont make any difference that i am in a hagwon which is part of YBM because it seems to me my director doesnt have full control over when the holiday is and she needs to consult with like the ybm boss or something. When i spoke to her she said that we got 10 days with chosuk and new years so next time i speak to her i will have the contract with me to point out it states clearly weekends and national holidays are not included
