So I am quite possibly adopting a dog soon. A very Korea-friendly dog -- a teeny tiny cute white fluffy purse-fitting dog.

I have a trip to Busan (specifically Haeundae beach for the sand festival) planned, and am trying to find out how dog-friendly are beaches here, especially that one, presuming that I am a responsible animal owner who cleans up after my pet and keeps him on a (short) leash.

Will I get nasty looks?
Will I get scolded/told to leave?
Will no one notice or care?
Are there hard and fast rules, or is it just a matter of not making a nuisance of yourself?
Do specific beaches have their own rules or is it the same across the board? (If the former, what beaches are recommended?)

Anything else you can share would be great, I'm excited at the idea of a new canine bff (and yes, I have planned for the future and he's gonna live wherever I do, here or otherwise) but I'm still trying to feel out the situation as far as how much I can bring him all over with me. It seems like little dogs that aren't annoying anyone get a lot of slack most places.

I asked my co-teacher about hotels, he said that people often just bring the dog without asking and many places either don't notice, don't care, or don't want to make a fuss. Are there explicitly pet-friendly hotels, or just hotels that don't care and won't say anything about it? Any tips on guessing how likely a place is to be chill about a quiet, well behaved dog?

Anyone with experiences or knowledge they can bring to this topic is great. I can get a pet-sitter or board at a vet or whatever but when I can, I'd rather have the pup be my "partner in crime" and am trying to find out how extensively this is possible. Thanks for any info!

If you're worried about these things then life with a dog in Korea can be tough. It's easier to ask for forgiveness than to ask for permission. As long as you don't let your dog poop and pee on the beach where people are then you should be fine. Take him/her for a walk before and let them do their business.

Make sure you have adequate shade and water because it's gets hot on dogs faster, much faster, than us. Finding a hotel might be your biggest trouble. Some places let you others don't.

You can't walk your dog on the beach during swimming season (late July- late August (I think)). Sometime will stop you and ask you to 'remove' your dog! But out of that time, feel free to walk your dog on the beach. Even if you can't, you can walk on the sidewalk next to the beach.

I'm referring to Haeundae and Gwangali beach in Busan. I was there last weekend and so plenty of dogs!
