Hi there,

I want to go to Korea and find a job whilst there. Does anyone know if I can get a D10 visa from home (Britain) and then transfer it to an E2 visa when I find a job - without having to do a visa run?

That's not how I understand D10 visas. You get an E visa first. Then, you change from E to D10 back to E.

Also, logically, it doesn't make sense. There isn't much advantage in that over a tourist visa. If you need to interview at the consulate for your first job in Korea, then how would you do that starting out with a D10?

Solution:

1) Get a tourist visa, come to Korea, then do the paperwork and interview where possible and get the E2.

2) If you don't like that, then get the E2 first, then switch to D10 if things go bad and immigration allows it (in the end it is immigration who decides, not ESL teachers who post here). After you find a second school, you can easily change it back to an E2.

Yea, ive been sorting this out actually recently, you dont need to be on a E2 to get the D10.

I had a reply from the visa section at the consulate in London, They do D10s

Is your uni in the top 200? If not i would give them a bell to see what they say.
