|
|
I'm looking at coming over to South Korea after I've finished my degree. My main problem is that I take a prescription drug called epilepm what I was wondering was whether it was accessible over in South Korea
Also would it show up in the medical examination that is taken once you get there? I've been epileptic free for about four years it's just I need my medication to stay that way. |

Not sure if it's available here, and if it's not an opiate...it won't show up on your health check/drug screen.
Why don't you ask your doctor in the US for a year's supply or more if possible. Also you could contact a foreigner clinic at one of the large hospitals and ask them. Try the Seoul National University Hospital Foreigner Clinic. They are helpful and friendly there. |

I just googled that name - epilepm - and couldn't find anything about it. Is there a chance you misspelled it? Is it a brand/trade name? If so, what's the actual drug name?
Whatever the case, I would send an email to the International Clinic in Itaewon - at [email protected] or [email protected] - and ask about it. They've been really helpful when I've had inquiries and have always gotten back to me within 24 hours. |

| You may have to look for the generic name (if the one you provided is namebrand). |

Is there a scientific name of the drug for it? To be safe, I would just bring a year's supply and/or have your family or a friend ship some to you later on during the year if you need it to be sure.
I would still imagine that they would have something like that here though, but who knows. |

Hope they're able to help you.
As for the health check, it's hard to say. I posted a thread about my struggles with anxiety not long ago. There's an ongoing debate at the moment about what exactly shows up in medical screenings; the opinions are mixed.
Once you've received a reply as to whether or not they can provide/write a script for the medication you need, or how easy it is to get here in general, it wouldn't hurt to ask if taking it would affect the results of your med check.
When I went in last week, I was prescribed Ritrovil and was told I should never have to worry about it affecting my job here. Still, I can't say I won't be slightly concerned if I'm still on it when my next check comes up. |

| I need to get a Rx for Rivoltril myself... that's clonazepam right? I'm almost out and that's never good... w/out a phone and internet (except pc cafes, I'm only a week in...) it's hard... plus, my doctor retired in the states... I have about a week's worth left... do you need to make an appt. at the clinic Flashcard? Just curious... so much has been going on this week for me, I just paniked when I opened my bottle and realized how urgently I need to see a doctor here... I only have my bottle fromt he U.S., don't have my old chart or anything... I wasn't worried about it and now I realize I've got too close for comfort... starting to get nervous... I'm hoping I can make an appointment for next week, but again I have no phone, so that's tricky... I'll try emailing them I guess... was it easy to get in w/ them???? |

| Why do so many of you have emotional issues? It seems like there is a thread routinely about how to get prescriptions for these types of drugs? |

So says the guy named lithium. Hmmm
True this topic comes up often. The fun part is trying to decide if the OP is seriously ill or disabled and should not come or has a minor issue and a legit reason.
Why do I have emotional issues. Korea man! It does things to your head! |
