Peemil,

You don't just say it like 'it' is, you demean people.
There is a difference.
You also lay blame solely on one side and leave the other side pristine white and free of any blemish or blame.

Leslie, the teenager mindset I was mentionning was the fact that many, many teenagers here are oblivious to the dangers around them much like a teenage dude back home that just got a new car thinks he is invincible and drives like a maniac.
Same deal.

At least we outgrow our teenager mindset.

Now that noise is accompanied by a bad smell!

Have to do do something about this.

Try making sense.

No, it's not the same deal at all. Teenagers in the west don't walk all over the road and not even turn round when they hear the noise of a car.

You haven't made a new point in weeks. [/quote]

Where the hell have I demeaned anyone... I've been reading over them and I can't see it.

If demeaning people it stating that Koreans have no manners, no concept of civil society and can't move out of the way of vehicles... Well then... I'm sorryyyyyyyyyyy.

Here's a new thread we can start. "Korea is all roses." Why don't you start it.

Here's my first post.

You know Koreans are the most civil human beings. You know I went to the shops today and this old lady jumped and jostled right in front of me. But you know. I understand. It's to do with their culture and everything. She is older and I'm just white trash on an E-2 visa.

Then I was sitting in the park and an old ajoshi come up and started to ask inappropriate questions in the park. But you know. When Koreans start a conversation they need to know where to place you on their social scale. So questions like... "Do you have a girlfriend? Do you have sex with her? How many times a day? How big is your member?" Are considered complete appropriate. It's of course cultural.

After leaving there, I felt joyous so I went for a drive in a my car. Which I got after much wrangling, because Koreans are not used to dealing with foreigners. This is because for a long time they were not exposed to foreign cultures or foreign ideas. Despite a war, an American presence, Japanese, Portuguese sailors, Chinese and the British. No for Koreans, they have an amazing ability, unlike our culture and country to see just one point of view. Isn't it wonderful?

So, like I said I was driving my car, and I was caught in a small one way street. There were two girls, talking on their mobile phones and eating ice cream who didn't know I was there. I beeped the horn but they kept laughing and eating their ice creams. That is alright though, because technology is important in Korea. It is truly the hub of Asia...

How's that Homer. More like your view now?

One day, if Homer is really lucky, the blue fairy will make him into a "real" Korean! Then his life will be complete!

Homer, you are an apologist, surely you can see this right? Dont deny this part of yourself, embrace it! The truth will set you free!

Nawww Lush.

I am not, as I have quite a long list of things that I dilsike here.
I just like to avoid applying conclusions to entire groups, thats all.
You would think that this would be simple enough to understand... Laughing

Then again, if some on mere want to think that I am an apologist, well then who cares! Laughing

Thats the way they see it, thats the way the interpret my posts. It matters not a bit to me.

I know how I see things, and I do not approve of every thing here (far, far from it).

Peemil, lets play the simple sam comprehension game shall we?

Here we go, are you ready?

Quote:
Koreans have no manners, no concept of civil society and can't move out of the way of vehicles

Lets see...

a) Statement applied to an entire group based on very personnal experiences

b) Statement does not leave any other conclusion except that said group have an inferior understanding of the common practices of life (namely politeness)

c) Statement framed in a derogatory manner that is meant to convey insult.

But you are right peemil...thats not demeaning..nooooo...of course not.

No lets try this game peemil:

Quote:
(Insert your nationality) have no manners, no concept of civil society and can't move out of the way of vehicles

or

Quote:
(Insert your nationality) have no community sense, they have no concept of sharing with others and will not lift their finger to help another

As said by someone...I am sure you would take that as a compliment peemil or would just say to that person: 'Hey thats cool, you are just saying it like it is'.

Finally,

That noise and smell...its growing fainter...oh well must have been a fly looking for some dung.

Right Homer... A. Statement applied to an entire group based on very personal experiences. Right if it happens all the time. With everyone you encounter, then we can conclude that this is the case.

For example. I hold up a card with fish. I say "fish." Over and over again.
It must be a fish. Or I put paper on a fire. It burns. Therefore, paper must burn.

B. Said group does have an inferior understanding. You can't justify this. You can apologise until the cows come home and it isn't going to change a lick. Koreans are still going to be rude, ignorant and self centred. Enough said.

C. Well it's only and insult if you want it to be. I'm sure people like yourself find their behaviour quirky and a little interesting. I find it rude.
Nuff said.

Would it be wrong if I was insulting Koreans anyhow? How would that be wrong? Why am I the bad guy if I call a spade a spade? It's the PC'ers like you that have ruined public discussion, invaded our Universities and churned out graduates who attempt through everything to look through rose coloured glasses.

You would think that this would be simple enough to understand...

Sometimes the Enlish lanuage is not used completely literally, it's a little thing called "usage", where we all understand what is being said, even when the meaning differs somewhat from the literal words. So when someone says "Koreans are racist" the sane amoung us understand the statement to mean "There is a higher proportion of racists in Korea than in my home country" ( or something similar ). No one is dumb enough to think that any quality applies absolutely to a population, we're talking about tendencies. So for you to continually point out "But it's not all of them" is entirely redundant. No one said it was all of them, just a lot of them. You act like it's so vital to carefully word each statement so as to ensure it's clear that we don't mean every single Korean, just a significant proportion of them. All the while, this pedantic literalism serves as subterfuge for you, taking focus away from what you don't want to face, namely that a lot of the complaints, while not true of every Korean, are, for the most part, solidly based in factual reality. You're actually lucky that posters mess up by using absolute language, if you couldn't complain about that you'd have to really face the issues we're talking about. Let me spell out the position:

A lot of Koreans are racist

A lot of Koreans are rude

A lot of Koreans have poor spatial awareness

There, those are not sweeping statements about a whole population. Let's talk about the issues, and move on from this pedantic semantic nit picking.

It appears you do, very much indeed, as you keep denying it.

To try to get back to the original topic...

Things I won't miss:

The usual things that people have mentioned, like the horking, spitting, open sewers, "Hel-LO-ooo!", etc...

...but most of all, it's the freaky foreigners (and you know what I'm talking about) and the petty bickering that goes on here on this board that won't cause me to lose any sleep.

The mood I'm in today Homer. Take your love of Koreans and shove it so far up your arse sideways it comes out of your nose.

They're turds.

Nuff said.

Sorry to say Peemil but the more you post like this, the less credible your opinions become.

As for your little moods, I missed the part where I should care....

There's no reasoning with Homer, and god knows I've tried. He's either a) been this country far too long; b) has hooked up with a Korean gf who is holding him by his cajones; or c) is a desperately lost individual with no focus and is clinging to an idealized version of a life not yet consummated. Sorry, Homer, but that's the way you come off here, and by the way, you do your avatar and icon a disservice: beneath his dumb facade, Homer actually loves people. Cheers.

coolsage,

But I do love people.... Laughing

I also dislike a lot of things here, like some things...thats just normal behavior.

As for your neat little options they were funny, thanks for the laugh. Very Happy

My life here is fine, its no paradise but its fine.

I am happily married (and she does not "hold me by my cojones"), am saving enough to have bought a house back home and to retire confortably in the future.
I like my current job and my social life here.

I have my run ins with idiots like anyone else but I try and not let these incidents turn me into a blanket statement producing machine.

As for you trying to "reason" with me...thats cute, when did you do so?

Maybe that's the problem. You should get her to try that sometime while you're getting a hummer ...
