What luckylady said is (sorry) terrible advice! Do NOT fly over to Seoul without your CBC in hand!

where did you read that I ever said such a thing? I would not, and did not. Shocked

further, the advice I gave was very good and beneficial to many others, not just this poster.

kindly read more carefully before making such negative remarks!

This : don't say you don't have your FBI check yet unless interviewed and asked to send over your documents; hopefully by then you'll have it in hand is what I miss-read.

My apologies.

I would still advise the OP to wait until he has his CBC in hand before applying.

Just to close out this thread should anyone bother to read it in the future.

After landing in Seoul, I had my CBC and contacted all the recruiters who had not ignored my emails. About a handful then starting to offer me jobs again, but maybe two or three actually looked at opportunities in Seoul. I am, however, now employed.

So this is what I've learned:
-Being in Seoul really does help with finding jobs. Unless you are the perfect physical applicant (blond, blue-eyed and hot) that they will fly over, being able to interview in-person here is a plus. So many English speakers are already here.
-Having all docs is ESSENTIAL.
-As a non-Korean Asian, they will want to put you in the boonies. If you don't want to fight it, get a year's experience under your belt and move to the city after. I started looking in March so it took me two solid months of job searching to get mine.
-Discriminating schools (least to most): public, public after schools, large chain hagwons, mom&pop hagwon.

Good luck!

I will be going to Japan in a few weeks to go do my visa run. Submitted my paperwork so I'm just waiting on the visa approval number.
