It's a shame that it doesn't play 1080p video well. |

Does iPad 3 play 1080p well?
I don't mean it in a "iPad 3 is just as bad" way, but I genuinely want to know, since I am looking for a tablet and the iPad has a nice screen so would be nice for watching video if it can do it well. (Disregarding the codec issues) |

I don't own either the ipad or the galaxy tab, but I'm curious, is there any point to 1080p video on a tablet? Can the human eye distinguish between 1080p and 720p on a 10 inch screen? Seems unlikely to me.
I guess if you've got an HDMI cable or something and you're playing on a larger screen it might come in handy. |

The resolution on the new IPad 3 is actually far higher than 1080p, and yes, I have heard it plays 1080p very well.
Actually, the OLD Samsung Galaxy played 1080p fine. |

I have the new iPad and it plays 1080p content perfectly, although this is when you play h264 (mp4) encoded videos (either from iTunes or made yourself). If you use a downloaded video player app and try to play videos using other codecs, I'm not sure how good the performance is. |
