Did Obama say or not say he would make Jerusalem the capital of Palestine?

I don't know if he said it, considering that I googled the quotation and can't find any mainstream news outlets reporting it, and even if he did, East Jerusalem is part of Palestine as of right now, so I really don't see what the issue is.

Here you go, I believe Obama or MSNBC made this page. Is this mainstream enough for you?

I'm serious, the source you cited has Birther stuff on its front page, hardly serious journalism. I'm more than willing to have a discussion about it, if you can actually prove that he made the comment.

Again, as I said before, East Jerusalem is Palestinian territory as we speak, so I don't really see what the issue is. If you want to have an actual discussion I'm interested, but hey, if not, you can keep wallowing in the mud.

It takes more faith to believe multiple news sources falsely accused Obama of saying this.
And what's the issue you say about Palestine owning ALL of Jerusalem as their capital? You just said it in your last post: "East Jerusalem is Palestinian territory as we speak, so I don't really see what the issue is."
The problem IS is that you don't go from owning part of Jerusalem to owning ALL of it. But with your buddy Obama, he'll see it though.

Again, find me a legitimate news source. I'd think that Fox would have jumped all over that statement, were it the case, and if not Fox, then Hasretz, the National Review, or one of a plethora of news organizations that either care deeply about Israel or care deeply about making Obama look bad. Having googled the quotation in question, I found one supposed news source, that being the site that you cited, and a whole bunch of blogs. Moreover, the quotation provided is heresay from a PLA official, hardly reliable. Finally, even within your questionable source, it says nothing about all of Jerusalem belonging to the Palestinians. You're manufacturing controversy on this front.

This is what Obama and Mitt do.

When you criminalize everything, you get a lot of criminals.

Crime rates have come down in recent years but are still higher than what they were when our grandparents were young. But the prison population is at an all time high too. Guess locking up violent thugs seems to have some positive effect.

About the blanket criminal check, the FBI or state agencies should only release records pertaining to a conviction, not an arrest, and it should only be for a violent crime, sex offending, or deliberate intentional fraud. All other things should not be reported to employers. Also, 10 years of good behaviour all things should fall off the criminal record except for murder and a sex crime against a child. Those are the ideas that should be taken forward.

I know Canada isn't as strict as that. Criminal records from your youth are sealed. Also, I think you can apply for a pardon after several years which wipes your record clean. Don't know what the process is.

I'd suggest you Americans lobby your congressman to change the rules for releasing criminal check info to employers.

If you want to compare the USA with China or India that's at least fair since that have more comparable demographics. I have no vested interest in the US, I'm not American, and I don't really care if you hate it.

BTW bud, I love America and I am American. I just hate how the neo-cons/republicans have destroyed it.

Libs have ruined America.

A political system that emphasizes short-term fixes over long-term successes has ruined America.

I think when the people found out they can draw money from the country's treasury in exchange for votes (Democrats) it ruined America. The Dems have created a hand-out entitled voting base and it is collapsing the economic foundation (Obama) of the country. The Repubs aren't angels either, they make backroom deals too, but the Dems it seems have gone out of their way with this last regime to bring America down and don't even try to hide it.

I think both the democrats and republicans need their asses kicked! They seem to talk in extremes and are incapible of anything in between. The Democrats want to regulate business to death to the point it slows the economy. Leave the market alone. But on the other hand, Republicans seem to want to let businesses have to much of a free hand and to put in place rules for credit that can screw consumers and let business and law enforcement officials strictly regulate your life instead of the government. I'd prob see the Republicans as the lesser of two evils because the economy does well more under them. But they need a boot in their ass over quite a few things. Consumers need more protection from credit and banks and social security ought not be privatized because I don't want granny to go off the cliff. Until they rectify these things, the Dems will be able to beat them over the head with these issues.

American Social Security should learn from Canada and changes to the Canada Pension Plan made in the late 1990's.
