Does anyone know what the true story is with Mike White?
I think that he died after being at a sauna but what actually happened? |

Another version of the story is that he pissed off the wrong mafia boss in the sauna by some form of disrespect. The rest is history. |

The kid had a heart condition, which at some point caused him to fall face first into a shallow pool of water. No one noticed until it was too late. His mother refused to believe such a simple explanation and now insists on wild conspiracies involving groups of random Koreans who drowned her son for racist reasons. The tin foil types on Dave's have alleged a failed sexual assault and Korean mafia theories as well. |

She's currently running ads on Facebook. Again, she's arousing a great deal of public interest but what is her point now? Is there currently a case against anyone in Korea? Any fundraisers or petitions? If not, then why arouse interest and then give people no way to help? |

pretty much how I feel.....
I do think however, that perhaps some of the Koreans at the sauna did see the kid belly and failed to react in time due to the kid being a large foreigner and being extremely uncomfortable as a result. |

I agree with most of this.
Disassociating with this specific incident.
Don't let your children be unaccompanied in any situation. Even older children should have a friend with them. Under no circumstance should you allow your child to be alone with strangers.
To do so is the height of irresponsibility in my opinion.

Uh, he was 14. Can he get on a bus alone? Can he walk to school alone? He is 14 years old, there was nothing wrong with sending him into the male side of the sauna alone. It sounds like they just aren't giving her the whole story, so naturally she is suspicious. It could be put to rest if someone conducted a thorough investigation, she is looking for resolution. I don't see her need for resolution as some kind of a "tin foil hat" idea. |

Getting on a bus alone or walking to school alone in his home country is fine. But leaving your 14 year old alone in a sauna in a foreign country is irresponsible. |

A 14 year old kid drops dead of a heart attack for no reason? I don't see a problem with a 14 year old being in a sauna on his own, by the way. What's so dangerous about that? |

My comment specifically said I was trying to disassociate from the specifics of the Mike White case.
Since you push with "there was nothing wrong with sending him into the male side of the sauna alone." obviously the outcome in this case disagrees with your opinion.
The "resolution" that you call for is offered in responsible parenting in my opinion.
And no. My son does not walk to alone. He's a minor and this is accompanied by an adult or with a group of friends. That is what responsible parents demand at all times in my opinion.

Really!?
You have no problem with sending a 14 year old alone into a sauna for hours unaccompanied?
I get nervous after a few minutes when my eleven year old uses a public restroom on his own with me standing outside.
I can't imagine leaving him in that situation ALONE FOR HOURS.

The crux of the issue is the autopsy. Evidently the autopsy indicated he died of a heart attack. That does happen in 14 year olds. I would wonder though about letting a 14 year old into a sauna alone without friends. Another thing given the incident, I wonder if the physiology of a 14 year old is developed enough to safely withstand a sauna. |
